It’s also a guy thats scored 27 in 68, and scored at a 22 goal per 82 pace even with that 5 in 40. GMs aren’t looking at things with such a narrow lens.

Couple reasons why the Leafs say no.

Leafs already have very minimal draft picks for next year, can't see them moving any unless it's at the TDL.

DeBrusk is Arb eligible next year, due for a pay raise and the Leafs can't afford it.

Not enough cap space to make it work for this upcoming season.

I just don’t see how any of the teams are happy with this, including Boston

5 in 41 = 22 in 82?

His career G/GP equals out to 22 in 82 even with that terrible year is what he's saying.

Couple things I see wrong here. Rask is going to get more plain and simple. DeBrusk is NOT fetching 2 2nd round picks he was awful last year. Senyshyn is worth maybe a 5th or 6th to me at this point, he has been a massive swing and a miss. At 24 he has 3 points in 14 NHL games and even in the AHL he has had minimal impact with 79 points in 192 CAREER games. Maybe a late bloomer but I can’t see that happening.

If Rask signs it won't be till mid season and he won't get even close to a full contract. I think half of what his expected salary would be for a full season is acceptable at the time they'd likely be signing him. So 2.5-3 is very much in the ballpark IMO.
