I agree he went from overrated to underrated. But I just feel like he just doesn’t have a good centre here. Play him with Danault or Kopitar and it could be better

Not a fan of this trade from a Kings perspective. I haven't liked what I've seen from Laine the past two years, so we'll see what he does this year.

I mean to be fair as well, Vilardi hasn’t exactly lit it up and ran away with it.

Personally I’d say to have LA keep AA, but that being said it’s a solid trade for both teams.

I never really like trading for Laine in the first place though so I might be a bit biased.

I'm not saying Vilardi has done better than Laine. I just like the trajectory Vilardi is on more than Laine's currently. Vilardi essentially missed 2 years of development and came in to play 2C in his first year of being a pro, last year.

But my stance is about more than just Vilardi. The Kings don't really have someone to replace Walker on the right side currently. In 2-3 years, sure Clarke will take over that spot. But the Kings are trying to compete for the playoffs now while the division is weak. The trade doesn't really fit with what the Kings need currently.

The value is probably correct... I just wouldn't do it.

I tried but there’s not many moveable pieces from the kings side to make the cap work. That’s why I have Walker and AA.

decline from the Kings. Laine needs to prove he is more than just a one trick pony. I'll take Vilardi and his contract over Laine's any day until Laine can show more consistency.

I know Walker and AA are there to make the cap work, but it ultimately feels like a Vilardi for Laine 1-for-1. I’d think CBJ might want another pick thrown in or something, cause Walker and AA don’t do much for them, and are likely just future trade bait.

I get it, Laine’s value isn’t what it was say, a year ago, but I don’t think he’s as bad as most people want to paint him.

I agree, get him to LA. Let him play with Kopitar, Danault, maybe Byfeld in a year or two. He’ll do well, very well.

And even on that note, between, Kopitar, Danault, and Byfeld, where does Vilardi fit in? I think trading him for a top-line winger works.
