Description

With 15 current D men on the NHL and minors roster, 13 are left sided. Only 2 true RD in Boqvist and Peeke (still a rookie).
That right side is looking very empty…Not too comforting in the management of player personnel.
Either Vatanen or Demers would be the only 2 vet right side D men I would sign. Why not both?

Not a bad thing! Jason Demers, and Sami Vatanen are both good, but I would go with Demers. He is better defensively, and I believe he would help out your team more. With him playing third pair minutes, you could have either Andrew Peeke, or Dean Kukan on the second pair eating more of the big minutes. Demers would be a good shutdown guy on the third pair, and help mentor Bean so he can be on the second pair in a year or two.

I would think to play that 3rd guy with Werenski. Let Boqvist play with Gavrikov and let Peeke play 3rd pair. It makes more sense to me to develop them properly.

I'd love to have a guy like Demers play in a mentor role and get flipped at the deadline for a 4th but with 9D already I don't see them signing anyone else. I also think it could send the wrong message to a guy like Peeke. He needs ice time.
