No...Just No. Eichel does not work with the Avs cap space and in no way are they trading Byram. This is just. a mess

There’s only 1 piece of interest for BUF and it comes at a position where they are already loaded with prospects and Dhalin. Outside of that, a 3rd liner, an overpaid vet D with injury concerns that wouldn’t waive for BUF anyways and an extremely late 2nd. This offer isn’t anywhere near close and idk why the Avs would want to trade for Eichel anyways.

Very low return for Eichel though in fairness: if you can get him for that relatively little why not do it, I guess just theoretically as it's not very realistic

Has Adams actually come out and said what they’re asking or that they never asked for 4 1sts? I haven’t kept up but I’m wondering how something like that would get debunked with any credibility at all.

I realize that and agree, but that has nothing to do with my question. If you read the question and the context , I’m not sure what you’re actually responding to.

2 NHLers, An A+ prospect, and a 1st, minimum 4 pieces ideally, but possibly more depending on the quality of the NHLers. So someone like Henrique, who is a cap dump, he would want more to come back

Yeah which makes sense, obviously it’s all contextual depending on who the players are. I get that, but I’m just saying it was widely reported across several pretty respected outlets that he was asking for 4 1st round equivalents and it must be all futures.

I’m not saying Adams hasn’t budged on that, but has that rumored original ask actually been debunked?

What I said came from Adams directly a while ago, and it conflicts with the rumor, so I would say thats sufficient enough to debunk it

Oh interesting, yeah I would agree. Huh that surprises me he hasn’t moved then. That ask doesn’t actually seem too crazy at all.

the cap exists for the Avs more than 1 year, this is why avs fans say it never works. They are not sacraficing the ability to pay Mackinnon or have to trade a girard or toews for cap space as well to keep Eichel and MacKinnon

Its just a no

The A+ prospects have been Zegras, Byfield, and Laf, and no one has been willing to give them up. Though i think the Ducks still could make a good offer if they added Comtois. But now they just signed him, I doubt they want to involve him in the trade

Yeah if the Wild weren’t so cap handcuffed, I would have loved for us to get him. In a world where we didn’t have dead money for both Parise and Suter, I would have been comfortable giving up a fair value package and making a cup run. Unfortunately it doesn’t work, but I am in the camp that he’s worth the price of admission.

I still envision a realistic eichel return as a 2nd line/pair nhl player, a blue chip prospect and a 1st. Then cap balancing. Too much money, too much injury concern, too much everything bleh going on. It’s just a worst case scenario for buffalo and they aren’t making it better in general.

Strome sucks and his biggest weakness skating isn’t what the Avs value most - that’s a no from the Avs.

Eichel just doesn’t work in COL, the cap doesn’t work. If there were no cap and he was healthy sure they consider it but there is.
