I’m so confused. Why would Arizona accept, and how did Hyman’s value come into this post? Chychrun is very good, and he is the one guy they won’t trade at all, especially for a bottom pair defence man, and a second liner that is old, and that makes a lot of money. And then you are adding two of their bottom 6 young wingers… I don’t see them trading any of those guys for that.

I think Chychrun is maybe the only untouchable contract in Phoenix. He's by far the best player involved in this transation, is youngish, top pairing, and signed for 4 more years at a reasonable price. Maybe palat and a pick for Fisher would work, taking the other pieces out

why would Arizona trade 3 young players all signed cheaply, for an older well paid winger and some garbage? And as good as Chychrun is- he doesnt address any need of the Bolts- theyre thin on the wings now- their top 4 dmen are all ready solid.

The worse trade posted on CapFriendly this summer. 10m in very decent contacts wit Arizona and they get two rentals in this trade. And you ask why this wouldn't work?

No freaking way Arizona touches this, Both Palat and Ruuta are UFA's next summer. And Chychrun is signed to a sweetheart deal. Chychrun is about as untouchable as they come in Arizona.

While the trade is very lopsided in favor of Tampa and Arizona would quickly decline, he’s not wrong in comparing Palat with Hyman. If Palat chooses to leave Tampa, he likely will get a similar deal to Hyman, as the players are one year apart in age and Palat has put up better stats 4 of the past 5 seasons vs Hyman(projecting at an 82 game pace). Given what top 6 wingers have been getting lately, Palat getting 5.5 on his next deal is very much in range. If he doesn’t re-sign with Tampa he’ll be one of the more sought after ufa’s next summer, guaranteed.

I do like Palat a lot and I do agree he should get paid close to or even more then Hyman next summer but I was referring more to Hymans intangibles but I haven't watched Palat to know that much about him, maybe Tampa values him the same way Tor and Edm valued Hyman

Palat had a rough ‘18-‘19 in terms of production, but then he changed his off-season training regimen and he has been much better since. He is a very good 2 way player and complements the Point-Kucherov line well. He is willing to battle and get in the more contested areas, and imo would be be a 1st or 2nd line winger on most every team in the league. He also gets his fair share of goals, as teams often seem to “forget about Drej” as many Tampa fans like to say. He’s not a flashy scorer, but like Hyman, has similar intangibles. They are both great pieces to help round out big lines, Hyman with either McDavid or Draisaitl, and Palat next to Point and Kuch. Hopefully, Palat wants to stay with Tampa and is willing to take less, but if not, Tampa will replace as best they can either from within or with a less aav ufa asset.
