Would the Kings rather have Fiala on a 6 year deal or Kaprizov on a 3 year deal?

Jebus that's a huge overpayment for Fiala. You realize he can just elect arbitration and become a UFA the following summer, right?

If he is traded, I suspect he'll get a return similar to what Sam Reinhart got. 2nd and a "good" prospect. In other words, upgrade the prospect a bit (Madden?) and drop Vilardi from the trade.

Reinhart returned a 2022 1st round pick and a prospect. Fiala has an additional year of rights to him that Reinhart didn't. Fiala should get more than Reinhart did.

If I'm the Kings I pass on even a Vilardi/Fiala 1-for-1 deal.

You are also higher on Vilardi's value than most people. I knew you wouldn't like this trade from the minute I posted it.

I'm not willing to give up a 22-year old player on an ELC with significant upside for a guy that will be a UFA in less than 2 years.

Makes no sense for the Kings. We don’t need Fiala or Hagelin.

Especially giving away Walker. That would make the Kings defense much worse. Hagelin was once a King and didn’t play well because he didn’t fit the Kings system. Like someone else mentioned I wouldn’t even do Vilardi 1 for 1 for Fiala. Vilardi in a few years will be better than Fiala.

Wild aren't trading Kevin fiala. Wild gm has also made clear. Kevin fiala is much better than Reinhart and he got better offer

People overrate prospect to good young NHL players. Under no circumstances is a prospect even equal to value of good improving young player like Kevin fiala

Vilardi hasn't been a prospect for a while. The last AHL game he played in was 18 months ago. "Good improving young player" is exactly the term I would use to describe him.

Vilardi has tremendous upside and is team controlled for another 5+ seasons. He's also still on his ELC, so his cap hit is minimal. Fiala can arbitrate himself to UFA in less than 2 years and already carries an expensive cap hit.

Wouldn't swap Vilardi for Fiala 1-for-1.
