Fun Fact: “Mason Shaw” is German for “Kirill Kaprizov”

They finally got him signed!

Well, I was waiting for this, at least. Shaw has had some bad injury luck, but I still believe in him. In all honestly, I'd take him over Rask at C any day of the week.

He could very well make the team, too. If we use Cramarossa, Gaudreau, or Rau at any point in the season, we're doing something wrong.

Gaudreau will be on Fiala's line to start the season.

Rau/Cramarossa is probably the pressbox FWD and will get a few games due to injury/sickness. It's better him in the pressbox than one of the kids that could use the playing time in the AHL opposed to just seeing the ice for practices.

The signing is fine. I have Shaw lower on my list of who I'd like to see called up.

Er... wrong Gaudreau.

All joking aside, I don't trust Freddie Gaudreau. Perhaps he could surprise like he did with PIT, but I do not have my hopes up.

Mason Shaw is a warrior, you don’t even know.

I don't either, but he wasn't signed for that contract to not be on the ice.

It's an organizational decision that will put him in the lineup. Similar to how Fenton pushed Donato into a top-6 role after he traded for him.

It's not a matter of him being a warrior or not, it's I think there are other FWDs ahead of him that I think are better.

Maybe Connor DeWar would get the edge, but beyond that, I can't see anyone else who would get a call-up at C.

I take it you're not counting Rossi as a callup?

I think MN will just shift one of the many wings that can play center to the center spot and put whoever is called up on the wing. Dewar and Dumont (now gone) were the only consistent centers last year I remember for Iowa. Shaw bounced between center and wing and ended the year centering Boldy. I couldn't say where anyone would have been if the taxi squad players had been in the AHL like normal seasons.
