I don't think edmonton swaps for someone without term. He's an RFA but he is due for a pay raise and edmonton has very little cap in 22-23.

I disagree this is a good trade for Edmonton they are in dire need of a talented young goalie, they are able to dump a bad contract and only give up a first for something worth far more. Edmonton would be able to sign him sue to clearing the camp space from koskinen

Take out Hajek and the trade is perfect for both teams.

There is no need for Edmonton to include a 1st in a deal like this. Koskinen is an expiring contract and Georgiev isn't good.

Georgiev has played for the Rangers for 4 seasons, the first 3 of which their D was horrible and they were selling off anyone they could for the rebuild, and his record is 43-38-9 with a .912 save percentage and 2.95 GAA. On a non-playoff, horrible defensive team that the Rangers have been the past four years, the kid has been MORE THAN GOOD. You obviously have not seem him play much.

Over the past 2 years, Koskinen posted a .910 save percentage to Georgiev's .908. And Koskinen's mark was dragged down by the beginning of 20-21 when Smith was injured and Holland screwed up the backup situation repeatedly, and it meant that Koskinen had to play every game of a wicked schedule - 12 games in 24 nights traveling thousands of miles through 4 timezones - which isn't something ANY goalie can stand up under. It wasn't fair to Koskinen but Tippett had little choice but to keep throwing him over the boards, so his results were poor over that stretch. I don't fault Koskinen for that, he did his best in an impossible situation.

If you pull those 12 games out of the equation to get a look at how he performs under normal circumstances, his save percentage over the past two seasons is .916, well above Georgiev's .908.

And before you blame NYR's defense, know that Koskinen faced 32.60 shots/60 to Georgiev's 31.99 SA/60 in all situations, and 32.34 SA/60 vs Georgiev's 31.03 at 5v5. Its not quality of shots either, as Koskinen has faced 8.50 HDSA/60 while Georgiev has faced 7.46.

It's a downgrade. Edmonton isn't going to give up a 1st to downgrade their goaltending.

Why only talk about Georgievs last 2 years? He has played 4 years and he is still young. The Rangers D has been terrible 3 of those 4 years and the quality of the shots Georgiev faces is high with tons of scoring chances. I have seen every game the kid has played.....how many have you seen?

Because any idiot knows that the farther back you go, the less relevant the information is.

I just showed you stats indicating that Edmonton's defense is in fact slightly worse than Rangers defense over the past 2 years.

Ridicules. The kid is 24 and his full body of work matters...only an idiot would think otherwise. Your stats are nonsense. The Rangers team D has be one of the worst in the league 3 of those 4 years and many games their goalies were facing nothing but grade A scoring chances. Without the goaltenders they have had, they would have been worse than Buffalo every year.
