If we’re spending that much would rather go after other options like Forsberg, Hertl, Fiala (would cost less)

But Laine signs long term to be with Aho.

Since Carolina is in conference I would be hesitant to trade them a gifted goalscorer like laine for a quantity of decent assets. I would as for more higher end assets or additional quantity (in picks and prospects). We have the depth of our roster set for the most part. (Jenner, foudy, stenlund, Robinson, etc) We now need the top end talent to flush out the top lines and none of these assets help us accomplish that.

Assuming an extension with those other guys is possible I’d prefer them over Laine. I just think it’s a better fit within the structure RBA employs

would love Nino but not sure why Avs would get in on this, why would CBJ flip him?

I understand that, are CBJ just tanking? Bc if they are moving Laine and then flipping Nino. Thats straight rebuild mode
I dont know what CBJ game plan is....they did some decent moves this offseason, reloading and getting younger, will still be competitive but if they are tanking this makes sense

Jarmo is doing a quick rebuild. Trading out older core pieces and keeping Werenski means he is planning for a quick rebuild while using high draft picks to supplement the loss of talent for the past two seasons. Assuming Jarmo hits on Johnson and Sillinger, he is going to have a tremendous opportunity to get some really good talent coming in the 2022 draft.

I wouldn’t trade that much for Laine at this point. He struggled with Columbus last season and will struggle again, lowering his value.
