Y’all are getting Buffalo to retain 1 million for 5 years. That costs a lot especially for a team projected to be cap strapped in 2 years.

Can’t do conditional picks anymore. Regardless this is the first time I’ve seen a Zib trade I would do.

One whole million? Wow, what a game-changer! Need to throw in Lafreniere and Fox to even things out!

We are in flat cap world. Salary cap saving cost lots especially salary cap savings with term. Plus you are getting a top 15 player in the NHL, you need to give up a lot to get him. It’s why you try to draft them

Well, sorta, cant put conditions on somebody signing, but the sabres are still getting conditional picks- like the florida pick is top 10 protected. But i knew what you meant.

They are also giving up a top 15 player in the NHL in this situation. If it was 2.5+mil retained it'd be different, but at the moment this is a severe overpay, Especially considering the state of Eichel's neck.

Zibanejad's 12th in points during the last 2 seasons, and that's including being invisible with covid for half a season. Even producing at a higher points per game than Eichel during those 2 seasons.

With zib in the trade change retention to 1.5 mil and change kravtsov and Schneider to chytil and Jones and make the 2nd in 2023 that eichel. Price would then be Zib, chytil, Jones Georgiev and 2nd for eichel at 1.5mil retained and dell. You can even throw in the Reilly smith for gauthier- hajek and a pick to Vegas for the rangers as well

If Eichel was healthy- thats a decent offer, but with the uncertainty that might be an overpay in prospects.
Even at heavily discounted salaries- Vegas would need to dump salary to take on those two players, but I love the strategy.
Buffalo might as well go all in on the race to the bottom (with Arizona, and maybe Detroit).
