Every Leafs fan accepts this in a heart beat and for that reason Anaheim declines

yeah this is pretty one-sided. Marner's high cap hit and the criticism on his lack of performance in the playoffs makes it near impossible for the Leafs to ever win a trade for him or even get fair value. I don't think they should trade him nor will they.

They might as well go for Eichel with that package. Marner doesn’t fit the ducks timeline and I don’t think the ducks want that cap hit.

Don't get me wrong I actually don't want to trade Marner which might seem crazy for most people. But the idea of trading a guy who CAN score 100+ points (In the regular season) just doesn't add up to a win in any scenario for the leafs. If he played for any other team you'd barely hear his name brought up.

Yes I knew what you were saying. I agree that if that was the package the Leafs should accept but the Ducks would never offer that.

As other people have mentioned, the Ducks don't do that. Giving up the best goal scorer on the roster for a passer makes no sense for the worst offensive team in the league.

Marner's last 19 playoff games 4 goals 13 assists for 17 points. Matthews last 19 playoff games 8 goals 9 assists for 17 points. Hyman last 19 playoff games 3 goals 2 assists for 5 points. Matthews had 1 goal 4 assists last playoffs, Marner had 4 assists and Hyman had 1 goal. So if Marner under performed then Matthews should be standing right beside him. Hyman was a complete non-factor.

l think a guy finishing 4th in league scoring would be brought up in a lot of hockey fans conversations. Don't know how much you watch but Brad Marchand is the only better 2 way winger in the league. Also if Marner played the last game of the regular season, he would have lead the league in ice time for forwards 2 years in a row. He's the only leaf player in the last 3 years to be on the #1 unit in every situation. First full season on Kadri, Tavares and Matthews line had them all having career years in goals. If the leafs trade anyone of the big 4 it will unfortunately be Nylander

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to get across, what I meant is if Marner played in lets say St. Louis or some other team without a reputation behind them. All you'd ever hear is "Wow the blues got this great young kid who doesn't do well in the playoffs" End of discussion BUT because Marner plays for the leafs he's talked about as if he HAS to be traded or that the leafs will never win with him, which is the farthest from the truth.
In any case there's no scenario where trading Marner makes sense.
