Jets can’t afford that, nor should should they do it. Detroit has 100000 clones of Engvall and Mikheyev already, they don’t need anymore “depth” players.

Yeah hard pass from Detroit.
Even harder pass from Winnipeg.
I would actually expect Seattle to pass on that as well, I think they see Dunn as a future top pairing guy. Younger and cheaper than Reilly.

Detroit entertains for sure. Two players who are pretty average, could pop off a little more if they had a more level playing field of players. Fit the core age of Detroit's rebuild and truthfully, Stetcher is not likely to resign in Detroit next year anyhow.. So i think this is good play for Detroit who ends up with a later pick and a Restricted Asset.

Unless Yzerman knows 100% Stetcher would stay, this deal works. No real downside for Detroit.

There is no chance Tavares waives his NMC or Winnipeg even considers that deal.

I don't know why you say hard pass from Detroit. if this is the only offer on the table, I think you take it. Yea if another team comes in and offers something better, take that.. But if ANYONE makes an offer on Stetcher, your trading him for ANYTHING. Because he isn't coming back next year. In this your getting an RFA and a 5th, better than a guy walking.

Merril got a 5th last year, Half salary held on nemeth got a 4th... This is probably the going rate for Stetcher unless he explodes next year... But behind Sieder, Leddy, hronek, he will likely be lucky to be on the second line. Likely to move would be Leddy.

Detroit would take a 5th and an RFA for Stetcher if this is one of the only offers. If someone comes along with a 4th or some better prospect, great, maybe they take that. Overall Stetcher is likely to walk, so if you have an option to move him for a dinner with Mike Babcock, you move him. Better than letting him walk.

Merrill and Nemeth are both LD and they seem to be in abundance. Stetcher being a RD adds a bit of value. He just came off a good year in Detroit and he has a cheap contract. Yeah if that's the only offer Yzerman may take it, but likely going to be better offers out there for his services if he plays as well as he did last year. I wouldn't be shocked if he got a late second or a third and something else.

Tavares says no, Detroit passes Stecher should easily return a late 2nd round pick. No thanks.
