My initial thought is that Drouin wouldn't waive for NJ but we seem to be a team on the rise so maybe he does. Devils lack forward depth so I can see this happening.

It's a cool post. But like you say it's a just for fun as it is not realistic. The biggest hinderance I see in the Devils trade is what is their view on it. Do they feel more comfortable paying Subban 9 mil for one year, or Drouin 9 mil for one year, and 5 the next... I'm thinking Subban but that's just my opinion.

The jackets don’t want or need Paul Byron. We can flip domi at half retained for more at the deadline. Thanks

The deal was centered around Brook and the 3rd and since both Byron and Domi are overpaid and out until approximately January the deal makes sense.

But Byron being a 2 year cap dump and a winger which we absolutely don’t need. What we’re gonna need either higher compensation coming back or remove him entirely, and we retain half which would also cost more. Either way this isn’t enough.

lol are Subban, Galchenyuk and Domi the only "former" Habs players/picks still currently in the NHL? I see those 3 a lot in these type of posts/proposals.

Just looking at MTL's draft picks, I see :

Ryan McDonagh
Max Pacioretty
Mikhail Sergachev
Jaroslav Halak
Victor Mete
Nathan Beaulieu
Jarred Tinordi

That's not a lot...

No they are the only ones who 1. Fill a need and 2. Would most likely be willing to come back. Patches, Sergachev and Mete likely don't want to come back ever, Halak and McDonagh are basically obsolete at this point with our depth and prospects and Beaulieu and Tinordi don't have a role here.

I see but... McDonagh obsolete? He's still pretty damn good

Oops I was thinking he was a RHD and older than 32 lol my bad! Still not sure that he would be willing to return to Montreal though lol. But 24 points in his last 100 games screams declining.

I'm guessing you didn't really watched the playoffs? Defending is not really about points...

If he is not adding offense why would Montreal need or want him with younger similar D men in Edmundson, Chairot and Romanov on the left side. The only thing that Montreal would need him for is his former offensive production.
