Hmmm. Both teams are disappointed with their lack of playoff success but I don't think the Oilers are desperate enough to give up McDavid, and bringing in the guy who seems to get the most criticism for the Leafs' playoff woes doesn't seem like it would solve their problem. From Toronto's perspective, if you have a chance to land a guy like McDavid I think you have to go for it. I could see them giving up the draft picks if they think it'll get them the cup in the next three years, but McDavid is a centre and Toronto already has Matthews and Tavares at that position. I guess Tavares could move to the wing, but it might work better if Toronto included Matthews instead of Marner, though McDavid is signed for 5 more years and Matthews is only signed for 3 so that two year difference might be too much for the Oilers.
