Is it actually confirmed that he will be on LTIR?

No, but if we don't put him on LTIR then I would be stupid. Best way to save cap and not have to bribe a team to take him. He's already almost always injured anyways.

From then on we could chase after a top forward like Forsberg or Tarasenko while staying cap efficient.

A local beat reporter with some pretty good sources said that the team wanted Gardiner to get a surgery and miss some of the season, but he also said Gardiner didn't want the surgery.

I'm not as confident as others that it will be a full-season/LTIRetirement type deal. I think it's max 3/4s of this season

Yeah, it would be great to get him locked up and we all know how good Svech can get once he's on a roll. Almost unstoppable for a young player who still has lots of potential.

I just wonder how legit that report was. Haven’t heard from any credible sources unless this source is credible?

Seems credible form its history. Odd how this just sort of popped up out of the blue though.

Yeah, I think they are reliable from what I've read, but it is weird that no Canes beat writers have put anything out since this report

Yeah that guy who reported it apparently has won journalist awards so I think he’s legit but I was pinging one of the best writers for the canes and he said that guys actual website or paper or whatever didn’t have the story. So I’m thinking the account that claimed it is making it up which is unfortunate. Really got my hopes up

Go for broke, trade for Tarasenko and Malkin.
Svech-Malkin-Tarasenko

That'd be something to see...

Would be something cool to see but that would have way too much risk. If they’re gonna spend assets to improve I wouldn’t want to go after two guys with some serious injury concerns over the last couple of seasons.

For sure, I'm not saying it'd be the responsible thing to do from a management standpoint, more like a fun thing to watch from afar, on a team that isn't "my team", haha

Man if healthy that line could be near unstoppable. Big heavy fast skilled and lethal shots

Exactly, it'd be fun to watch when it worked... you'd just have your stomach in knots all season about when the other shoe would drop with a season ending injury...
