Line Explanations

Forwards
1st Line: Seen Playoff Success, Toffoli/Caufield Score and Suzuki is a Great Playmaker and Pretty Good Defensively with his stick. Overall solid #1 line for us which we've been lacking.

2nd Line: KK Gets Consistent TOI along with consistent line mates, Hoffman is the Shooter, Gally is the grinder who can get the greasy net front Goals, KK and Gally both throw the body which should open some ice up for hoffman

3rd Line: Drouin and Anderson had good success with Suzuki last year, Sliding down the lineup and playing with Poehling who has offensive upside could help all 3 players with "breakout" or "Rebound" type of years. Andersons Checking makes this line harder to play against.

4th: Checking line for us, should try to model their game around the 4th line from last year during the playoffs. Evans and Lehkonen have great speed and Amrias size helps to balance this line.

Defense
1st Pair: Pretty Self explanatory, they were good last year so why change it. Petry has offense and Edmundson has the hard defensive style of play.

2nd Pair: Romanov's speed and skill could be shown on display more this season if he's' given a role in the T4 pairing. Imitating this pair from the success Savard had while playing with Sergachev in Tampa could find success. Savard played well with the younger sergachev and I could only see Savard helping Romanov grow on both sides of the puck.

3rd Pair: Chiarot has shown he can eat big minutes for us, putting him on the 3rd line doesn't mean he'll always play 3rd pair minutes but its due to Romanov Excelling and if Norlinder is going to break the lineup he will need a strong defensive minded partner beside him so he can try and be offensive as possible and chiarot checks that box for me

Pretty much my lineup as well but I have Norlinder in Laval and Wideman on the right of Chiarot lol. We need a better option than Wideman though IMO but the forward group looks solid.

Wingers look solid, Centers can't be called Solid until we see how KK comes out, Same with Poehling IMO

I think Norlinder has a clause that if its not NHL then he's back to Europe for another year.

Ya Norlinder is only staying in North America if he's playing in the NHL otherwise its back to Europe for another year, I think he has a good chance of seeing decent ice time. Really hoping to see a bit more responsibility given to the year guys and some more chances, its not the norm for habs management but i think this year they may not have any other option, need to see what we have.

With Suzuki, KK, Poehling and Evans lining up as our C core rn they won't have the choice, Caufield will play big minutes with Suzuki. Im worried about them sheltering Romanov and Norlinder (if he makes it) again cause they need to play minutes to grow, no excuse to leave Romanov out of the T4 next year.

Edit: I'd rather watch the kids play and go .500 and miss then getting old heads in and do a little better while still missing playoffs while not developing any of the young guys cause they just shove them down.

Agreed, I think Romanov should be seeing 20+ minutes a night, and if Norlinder can hold his own, which i think he will be able to, they should be able to get him in that 13-17min a night, he has offensive upside so maybe some PP time, but we will see. I also dont think Ghule is too fair off either. He already has the size and everything that came out last year about him was how he was further ahead then they expected and how his skating was already at an nhl level which usually is something that needs to be worked on before making the jump. Either way i hope they push forward with that mindset instead of giving Nordliner's ice time to Wideman or going out and signing some vet that has no upside.

Could Easily see our 2023-24 Starting D core be

Romanov Petry
Guhle Norlinder
Edmundson Savard

Guhle could make the team in 2022-23 but i think they let him have a year in Laval first unless he's doing really well. Brook aswell could be there on RHD 3rd pair but with Savard and petry locked up for term and our LHD being strong i think he won't fit yet sadly

Ya i think A year in laval will do him well, and i wouldnt be surprised to see Brook get moved at some point, after losing Juulson and Mete for nothing i dont think they will want to go through that again with Brook, he could be a decent add on in a trade package.

I like the idea of letting the kids play, but don't you think bringing in Bozak and Vatanen on team friendly deals will just give us a bit more depth and solidify the team? I really like Poehling and would like to give him a shot, but relying on KK, Poehling and Evans at C worries me. Bozak can help them and play that Danault role (obviously less effectively but still). And I think Vatanen over Wideman and give Norlinder a bit more time.

nah, Id rather finally let the kids play, team already looks younger and its the first time in a while we will have a "problem" of possibly having 5-6 players younger then 24 on the team, Vatanen would be good but MB already got widemen and he knows norlinder will put up a hard fight for a spot, cant see him adding another D now
