Forsberg and Ekholm dont extend

Created by: ZPirtle
Team: 2021-22 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 20, 2021
Published: Aug. 20, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Forsberg/Ekholm moved at TDL, Grimaldi before the season. I'm sure my prices are off, but I have no idea how to value prospects. These are just prospects I think the Preds should target in potential deadline deals.

Would hope an extension is in place for Forsberg at that price. Couple months of him is giving up too much.

That's a pretty giant overpayment for a rental of Ekholm. Kaliyev is one of the Kings top prospects. He was just listed at the 25th best prospect in the NHL by Pronman last week.

Do you really think the Ekholm & Cousins package gets that much more of a return than Forsberg would? I think you're much too optimistic on Ekholm, and selling quite low on Forsberg.

Yeah I had extension in place assumption. If that’s the case then I’d do it.

what a gotcha!

it literally says "Going to do a Part 2 to see how potential extensions for Forsberg and Strome play out with other extensions needed for Necas, Troch and Bear." in the post

There's a considerable difference between Forsberg coming with an extension in place, and "going to see how potential extensions play out". Why wouldn't you discuss a potential extension with the player you just acquired? That's just basic asset management.

I was genuinely curious why @vikhodush's assessment of Forsberg's value changed so significantly over two days. If I was looking for manufactured drama, I'd get back together with my ex.

Did it change? Both scenarios I said for those returns it would assume an extension is place. Confused how you see it differently.

I took going to see how a potential extension plays out as much less concrete as Forsberg having an extension in place as a condition of the trade.

Yeah it’s the wording. In my AGM I meant let’s see how the extension impacts the canes cap structure for the following 1-2 years which I explored in another post. Rather than, let’s acquire the player and negotiate an extension.

Gotcha. Regardless, I think NSH declines the OP's proposal here. Even as a pure rental, they should be able to get a better return for Forsberg than one where Suzuki is the best piece.
