IMO, NJ easily declines or Buff needs to add a lot

You do know Skinner's deal is really long right?

This makes no sense for NJD. Terrible idea

I can see why nobody would take skinner.

But there is no reason for buffalo to dump prospects and high picks to trade him.

They will just run with skinner for the next few years and when they are ready to compete maybe they contemplate trading other stock to move him

If NJ could restructure the Skinner deal so the entire 48M cap hit occurred this year then it could theoretically be viable for them but otherwise

That's an absolutely absurd suggestion

Not worthy of our time

Subban and AJo are not negative assets to NJ whatsoever as they have tonnes of cap this year and a healthy amount next year, plz research fully

If this was Boston who are 100% all in this year and if they theoretically had 12M in meh assets then maybe it works but this really needs to be re-thought

AJ will rebound this year like ghost and have + value

Skinner is one of the worst contracts in NHL history

Especially given nmc

Skinner's NMC is there for a reason - he likes playing close to his Toronto home and family. While his cap hit is excessive for what he is, he's still a capable 30 goal scorer if he's not shackled in a defense-first system, playing with 4th liners for 10 minutes a night like the idiot Krueger imposed on him. It's hard to remember the free-flowing, offensive style under Housley that Skinner flourished in after the stench of Krueger's disastrous 2 years is still so strong - but Skinner will likely rebound this year under a similar offensive style for Granato as what Housley endorsed. He won't have Eichel feeding him passes but he scored 30-goals often in Carolina without a premier center.

That trade doesn't help the Sabres. If Skinner gets proper ice time and deployment, and I think he will under Granato, then I'm very confident he will return to producing like a top line player

I agree with most of this but he played with E. Staal and Lindholm quite a bit in CAR when he was putting up numbers

2017-'18 his #1 center was Derek Ryan- 24 goals
2016-'17 Derek Ryan and Victor Rask 37 goals
2015-'16 Victor Rask 28 goals.
2014-'15 Victor Rask 18 goals.
2013-'14 Staal and Lindholm 33 goals.
Let's not forget he gets very little PP time and was among the top five forward prior to two years ago scoring EV goals.
He will return and score, maybe not 40, but a lot more than 7 and 14.
