Exchanging Headaches

Created by: OldNYIfan
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 21, 2021
Published: Aug. 21, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not entirely serious; just imagining that Guerin and management might get fed up negotiating with KK and his agents. The Sabres can certainly afford to pay him, and Buffalo is practically BALMY in comparison to Moscow in the winter. Everybody gambles.

Think Minnesota has enough left-handed defensemen on the depth chart?

My Wild friends can tell us which two forwards get promoted from Iowa.

Nah. Switch Boldy and Rossi. Add something really good if Kaprizov doesn't sign...

Buffalo guys should get comfortable with Ryan Strome, NYR 22 1st, and Kravtsov.

Why are we acting like Kaprizov has the value of a late 1st here? He will sign a 3 year bridge to UFA at 7/8 mil.

Only if you believe Karprisov isnt serious about leaving for the KHL
Think about it , Top NHL Rookie leaves NHL in search of his Gagarin cup with his 2019 fresh in his mind
Its an Advertisers Wet Dream and the type of move the KHL has been looking to make

They're offering him top Dollar
Advertising money over there is huge
Plus his Center Grigorenko returned to the KHL
He won the cup with him and they have great chemistry
Plus their team got Fedotov the 6'8 KHL Standout Goalie and PHI Flyers Prospect

There's a lot of appeal and leverage to be gained by his rumored 1 year 10 million dollar deal
Not only does he put the KHL and MIN in a bidding war for maximum profit
He also pushes the teams to put together a team worth playing for

I think Kaprizov leaves for KHL with the deal he has in place
I gotta think being traded just reinforces that move to the KHL
That has to bring down his value in the trade market vs a player like Eichel
Now BUF gotta pay him more then Eichel just to get a seat at the Negotiation Table

Deals already in place in the KHL
Trade Talks have been stalled for months
Kap's Agent said last offer was in April from MIN

Multiple Russian sources have come out and said Kaprizov has no deal in place to play in the KHL this season, certainly not for 10M
Ilya Sorokin (Kaprizov's former CSKA teammate) laughed when asked if it was true that Kaprizov was going back to the KHL

His Agent seems to think different
I'll take a statement by the man handling Kap's business in regards to this subject
Over a Russian Goaltender laughing at something . . .

Why be one of many in the NHL
When you can be the Micheal Jordan of the KHL
Taking the League to the next level Commercially

They've Captured Markets putting Expansion Teams in Markets NHL cant get Viewers consistently
They've got teams in 6 countries with another half Dozen Nations with bids on the next Expansion Teams.
Right now a Home Grown star who chose to come back from North America basically as soon as he got there

Especially if he Appears to be Snubbing the NHL to choose the NHL
He'll become the new Kovalchuk with the difference being he had a Choice while Kovy was ousted by NHL really

You're going to take an agent trying to use the only leverage he has to get his client a good contract over multiple different media sources whose job it is to uncover truth from both sides?
You're willingly and blindly trusting the most biased guy in the equation?

The KHL season has started. If he was going to play in the KHL this year, he'd be playing there right now.

I’m not sure I would trade just Rossi and a 1st for Eichel. That’s how little I am interested in him!

think of the Jack eichel situation but he stayed at home and the Sabres organization Don't need him anymore so he get traded for a 1st and 2nd

I think this is a overpay by the Wild. All the guys who stay in contact with KK say this is just the agent pulling strings and he will be back in Minnesota.
I do really want Eichle in MN. Even with his neck surgery being on hold I don't expect Sabres to give him away, but I just don't see Sabres getting a package this good since no one has offered anything close to what Sabres have asked. Really sounds like Sabres don't want to play ball.

I actually don't hate the idea of Eichel for Kaprizov (I've been oaboard the Eichel train since it left the station and I'm not hopping off), but if Kaprizov's agent is acting like this on a semi-competitive team like the Wild, can you imagine how he'd act if his client were in Buffalo? I can't see the Sabres having much interest in Kaprizov solely due to the fact that it would take a miracle for him to not walk after his next deal. The Sabres are also re-re-building and Kaprizov is probably just slightly out of their desired age range.

I think it looks mostly fine, though I'd pencil Dewar in on the fourth line. If Kaprizov is going to Buffalo, I'd say Rossi (and Boldy) would be off the table and I have a feeling he may make the team in camp even if I'd like to see him marinate for a while in Iowa
