MY THOUGHTS:

WHO CARES ABOUT DRAFTS PICKS AND THE FUTURE PROSPECT POOL. We've seen Crosby, Malkin and Letang time after time give it there all for the city of Pittsburgh and than people are willing to trade them! I've never seen such an ungrateful fan base willing to turn their backs to these guys. I hope they all retire in Pittsburgh. They gave us three Stanley Cups and id be 200% willing to go through a very lengthy rebuild to get another one. Im not sure why Hextall made zero moves so far. I know some of these trades wouldn't go through and some of the players are unavailable but imagine the team they could have If they just had a GM with some cojones! Keep POJ, Poulin and Bjorkvist but lets get this team back to quality. Also not sure why people are willing to trade Rust, most consistent player they got. Im fired up lol

I'd love to see this. Crosby, Malkin and Letang still have it in them. I was just watching the pre season scrimmages and Letang is so patient and has an ability to read the play so well. He has become under rated and yeah I agree, people should stop trading Malkin, Letang or Crosby in mock drafts. To me they are all top 5 in Pittsburgh history with Jagr and Mario.

I have to agree that the penguins are still in win-now mode and starting to rebuild should wait. Maybe I'm just naively optimistic, but I don't know how drastic we need to be to be a contender. I think we're overpaying for Staal and Greenway here, but that tends to happen with teams trying to hold onto cup contention like the Pens. There are only 2 things I think I'd disagree with. 1- I really liked the Danton Heinen signing. I think he can bounce back after leaving Anaheim, he has experience on both special teams, and his cap hit is only $1.1 mil. 2 - Taking Jake Guentzel off of the 1st line makes no sense. Even with the inclusions of Palmeri and Greenway, he is the best winger on the Penguins, and I think is underrated by fans of other teams. He shouldn't be anywhere other than Crosby's wing.

You are going to have to fork over a bit more if you want Staal back. Canes are going to hold on to their captain if the return is that little.

I think Guentzel excels with Malkin. I think the addition of Palmeri with Crosby gives it that Dupuis like feel. In 2019 Malkin and Guentzel put up 22 points in 6 games. Obviously Guentz is Crosbys go to winger but putting him on Malkin's gives them two very strong lines. You could also go with Palmeri on third, Guentz w Crosby and Greenway w Malkin. So many possibilities with this team.

Yes totally agree. Very slim chance Carolina makes Staal available but I love him as a player. Hard to judge his value right now.

His value is a bit higher now, as the canes are consistently marking the playoffs. Plus, Staal is our best face off man. With the addition of Trocheck, the amount of face offs that Staal had to take on his off side drastically dropped, so he was able to produce a bit more offensively. The only question mark around Staal I would have is how much he will resign for and if he would be willing to take a pay cut to help the team in the long run.

I have to admit that I'm a bit biased because Guentzel is my favorite player, and I did not know how well he and Malkin did together, so thank you for telling me. I have to agree that I like how versatile the lineup is, as there are arguments for any combination of lines. I think that's very important for a successful team, especially considering how often the Pens have seemed to be missing guys to injury in the past few seasons.
