If Foegele who is better than Mikheyev and Engvall, the Oilers don't do the deal. If Mikheyev and Engvall and are better than Foegele, the Leafs don't do the deal.

So you can say that about any trade. Why would a team trade their player for another player if the player you are trading for is better considering what you are offering

True but it's kinda insane to be just cap compliant with a non compliant 20 man roster. Leafs keep Engvall and Mikheyev and at least have 21 man roster.
