Kellers young but still very overpaid, for 7+ millon dollars your high in points the last 3 years should not be 47, and Danult a guy that already cannot score is being paid 5.5X6 till hes in his mid/late 34s to be a glorified 3rd line center IMO

Myers isn't even that bad, he's only a couple mill overpaid and he's coming off a good year

He made his contract not as bad but still overpaid for 3 Years at 6Mil with a NTC especially for a team that has impending cap issues already

Danault is a great playmaker and a top 5 defensive forward. Just because he doesn't score goals doesn't make him bad, he is easily worth the 5.5 for now

right now his cap hit isnt bad, but im talking about a contract, mostly likely by at least midway through he will be a bottom 6 center on this team if not next year with Byfield there. You dont pay little offensive upside shutdown centers 5.5 with that term.

Hes 21 and was decent in the AHL so I wouldnt say a bust, but not living up to to the hype and a little worried about Turcotte as well but with all their future centers especially with Turcotte being a shutdown guy the signing makes zero sense

His style of game will probably age well since he relies a lot more on iq and technique over physicality. Having Danault face elite competition will allow the kings to shelter their young players

I've watched him for years and he's a 3rd line center who can play higher in the lineup, but by no means should he play there permanently. He was being used higher than he should be out of necessity.

I'm not saying he can't play offensively, but his strengths are effort and being on the right side of the puck. His offense depends on his line capitalizing on what is created from that.

Yes. He is great at shutting down opposing players, but you normally don't want your 2nd line dedicated to that role.

That said, it can work, if you aren't relying on your 2nd line for offense and can get more production from your 1st and 3rd lines by using Danault strategically.

32 year old Danult is not shutting down any elite players in the NHL, already not an amazing skater and itll only get worse and even then he will still have multiple years left on his contract
