Description
Ferland goes on LTIRetired Day 1 of the season.
Recall anyone papered to Abby that earned 13th F.

Petey gets a bigger Barzal bridge deal.
Hughes 4yrs doesn’t walk him into UFA due to 10.2(c).
JB has to find away to get both to agree to those offers.

Accrued LTIR cap relief can be used for a TDL trade.
Either for a PO push or PO run whichever situation presents itself. If no PO’s can weaponize the cap to gain draft capital for 2022.

If Ferlands going to LTIR then can’t accrue cap space

I think this is reasonable. Hughes may get a little more, but then OJ or Schenn can be papered down

Trouble is you have spent to the cap. If those 3.4m in bonuses happen or even half, you will have less cap space 22/23. Canucks don't have any big UFA contracts coming off the book next summer, and some RFAs to sign. So the 22/23 lineup likely loses a guys like Boesner.

You might be right about that. Not sure. I thought that maybe Boeser's deal plus the Luongo recapture, which are both done at the end of the year, equal nearly $9M and Boeser's qualifying offer, plus Halak's bonus is exactly $9M. I think that is how they plan to do it. They might be able to get Boeser to take slightly less on a longer term deal (compared to his Qualifying Offer, which I think is 7.5, not compared to his current cap hit). Might, I could see that not working too.
