The Montreal trade would depend on where that pick is. If it's a top ten pick MTL likely says no, if it's in the teens and the youth has shown actual steps forward then they likely take it.

Yeah I think it'll be like 14-18. Maybe lower depending on how they end up in the ATL

Zucker is bad and expensive, you're gonna have to give up assets to get rid of him

Nope, one down year doesn't make him negative value. He did great the year we traded for him, then Covid hit and ruined his and many others years. Also he just needs a change of scenery and TOR wants a top 6 forward.

nope, Toronto wants a good top 6 forward who isnt going to be 30 soon making over 5 million bucks, unless the pens are going to make it worth their while.

The only the way the Devils do that is if it's THAT year's pick and they are a lock for the playoffs AND Rust's price isn't crazy.

Thing is too, the Devils shouldn't really go out of their way to spend on wingers when they have a bunch in the system to see where they as the window opens up on being a playoff team regularly.

This trade might be off, but that doesn't mean Zucker has negative value. A lot of pens fans including me think hes gonna bounce back. Malkin's out for the start of the season and Zucker worked his best with Carter. Even if we play hom on Crosby's line, hes gonna have a bounce back. TOR can easily make Zucker come back. And this is the most important time for TOR to win a cup, so maybe it's better to have a 30 year old for only 2 years

Do you think he can get that value from a different team?

he has negative value to the leafs. He makes way too much money and is potentially falling off a cliff. They dont have the cap space and anrt in a situation to hope he bounces back. If a team is going to give up assets for him and rely on him turning it around, it isnt toronto

Alright, but remember when you said that TOR doesn't want a 30 year old winger. Cause that's what you need to get outta the first round

yes, ill remember that i said that, i'll also remember the parts about him being incredibly expensive on a not good contract after having a terrible year. That part's kinda important.
and no, 30 year old jason zucker wouldnt have gotten them out of the first round.

He'll certainly help. A 23 year old winger wont. A Veteran winger will. And I'm not talking about just Zucker. I'm talking about many other 30+ year old veteran wingers.

ah yes, veterans, the leafs totally havent had any of those lately. Just young bucks like Marleau, Thornton, Simmonds, Foligno, Bogosian, Nash etc etc etc etc

Except there all bottom 6 players now. You need a Veteran who plays in the top 6. Hyman is gone and There is still a spot open for LW or RW. Thornton is gone. And idk what happened to the rest because I dont pay attention to the leafs that much lol

what kind of extension is Malkin getting that he warrants 3 first round picks?
he will be 36 when he signs his next contract...

        no chance.

Umm, I dont think that's 3 first round picks. NYR are trying to make the playoffs while teams get better and better. A 1st or 2nd line veteran C would really help them go on a run.

the point was that the 'vets' is the last reason the leafs lost. They've lost for a few different reasons and it has never been because of lack of veterans in what ever position. They dont need more, they need good players that fit the team structure, that is all

Yeah that makes sense. McCann woulda been a nice fit, but of course they gotta save Holl.

Yeah that makes sense. McCann woulda been a nice fit, but of course they gotta save Holl.

have you seen the price of top 4 rhd right now? why would the leafs open up a bigger hole in their roster just to keep another forward?

Because they lost someone bigger in Hyman and TOR fans were saying that getting McCann would be a great replacement for Hyman. I mean I would've protected McCann over Holl all day long. FA was stacked with D and teams were getting rid of D as well.
