I think they will be okay this year but it could be rougher than last year, they played in a Canadian division that was geared towards exactly how the Oilers play, fast, high scoring, high end talent. The Pacific may knock them around a bit but it's such a bad division it's hard to see them missing the playoffs.

I am shocked that a team hasn't looked at the complete lack of cognitive ability in that front office and offer sheeted Yamamoto with Puljujarvi the target next year if Holland matches.

They will be in worse trouble with Holtby on the team.
They will also be in worse trouble if you have Shore as the 4th line center and McLoud on the bench.

Yamamoto likely signs a 2-year deal in the coming weeks, so he's not getting a new contract next summer.

100% some of their prospects will be on the team: Holloway, Samorukov and Broberg at the very least, this and progression of young players (McLeod, Bouchard) likely results in a veteran or two getting traded. I'd also have Konovalov or Skinner on the roster over Holtby.

In short, this isn't what the roster will look like in a year.

you are correct it also hard to see JP getting 5 mill a season and yamo will be at 2 or lower. unless JP puts up like 35+ goals he will be in the 3-4mill range as well.
Lavoie probably makes a push for this team as well.

Oh, I haven't - I think he'll be an NHL sniper one day. But he's going back to college this year and he'll need at least a year in the AHL, so the soonest I think we'll see him forcing a veteran out of a roster spot is 2023-24.

I think Puljujarvi will get a short term 3-4 million Bridge maybe even a 1 year followed by an RNH type contract if he gets to the 25 Goal mark consistently.

Yamamoto would go to another team and become a 3rd line player who scores 25 points. He will never get a better chance to be touted as a second line skilled player and get paid than on the Oilers beside Draisaitl. It is all a game Yamo is undersized and can only play about 18 minutes per game he will get inflated points totals which he can take to arbitration or another team after his bridge deal is up and edmonton can no longer afford him.

At this point the 2-4 year outlook for goaltending is what concerns me most about the Oilers. There are more than enough solid prospects who are either ready now, or will soon be ready to fill the depth positions at the NHL level. The emergence of Ryan McLeod contributes to an improved bottom six forward group, Tyler Benson will get his shot to do the same this fall. Apparently Dylan Holloway should get some NHL time this year, and both he and Rafael Lavoie should be contributing a the NHL level by some point in the 2022/23 season. Those latter two have potential to be top-six players for the Oilers, and their presence may just push Zack Kassian and Derek Ryan down the depth chart and severly limit opportunities for 13th and 14th forwards like Vesey, Shore, and Barbanov.

Barring remarkable performances in 2021/22, neither JP nor Yamamoto have earned what you are projecting. If those are their salary demands, I expect Holland will trade Yamamoto because the Oilers have a number of undersized, aggressive, skill forward prospects. Perhaps a Yamamoto trade will address the goaltending question in Edmonton? Or, maybe it will bring in an asset that provides Tippett with a third line that is a strong scoring threat? Maybe it brings a different look to the Oiler blue line? In any case, Tippett can mix and match with McDavid, Draisaitl, RNH, Hyman, JP, Foegel, Holloway, and Lavoie in the top six.

Oh god, no, first you couldn’t afford my hockey pool, second if you would think I would be in a hockey pool with anyone like you you’d be lying to yourself. I’m gonna throw you on mute now, but I will pass along your tweets to the minor hockey association and anywhere else I think they could do some damage

Hahahahahah you think protecting your tweets 24 hours after I took screenshots will help?!
