Honestly it's not like their picks have been entirely bad. Their development system, like pretty much everything else in the organisation, is just absolutely terrible.

Hindsight is always a beautiful thing, but honestly it's been more of a rule than an exception that any prospect drafted by this lot, if not absolutely generational prospect at their youth, is set to become worse than expected.

Plus it's not like Suzuki was drafted by MTL anyway. He was traded for Patches. Had he been stuck in the VGK system, there's a likelihood he'd never made it to the point where he is now. Timing and the correct team matters the most for any prospect.

So far Zegras hasn’t played a full rookie season so it’s not easy to judge him to Cozens yet

Sabres' fan here. In general I can't say that we, as a group, lack patience. We do occasionally lack patience with our prospects though. Of the 5 draft changes presented on this armchair GM team, only Comtois in exchange for Davidsson is a done deal. We may need to wait a decade to make a final call on the other 4.

I agree. But being huge sabres fan and following the draft. I think every sabre fan wanted sabres to draft Caufield instead of mittelstadt. Back then what sabres need the most was pure goal scorer. Then in 2020 draft, Every one wanted sabres to draft a center either perfetti or rossi and I still i think that would be a better option.
Obviously Quinn could turn into caufield but even better defensively and I think Mittlestadt has improved alot and I think locked in top 6 role this year. Ryan johnson will be stud but I think he will be flipped because sabres are so deep on left side.

If you were "following the draft", you'd at least know Mittelstadt and Caufield were not in the same draft

I agree with most of these, at least as of today, disagree with cozens v zegras. There just isnt enough yet to call that- both players dominated lower level, cozens has shown himself to be capable/not stellar on a terrible nhl team, zegras has yet to show better. If i had a mulligan i would probably take zegras, but its not as egregious as the others.

Yeah I agree with you on Zegras but he did have the same amount of points in NHL i half the amount of games. Still to early and have to Love big Canadian centers.

Boy, sabres luck was brutal in mittelstadts draft. Finished with the 5th worst record, passed by 2 teams plus vegas to drop to 8. The talent dropped off pretty hard after pick 5.
