Genuinely curious what a deal could look like involving turcotte and Jones at a base. Don’t just say no. Lemme know what could be or not be added to make it potentially work

Then no deal, Kings need a legit 1LD if they move their second-best prospect, Zach Jones is not seen as that.

Idk look at prospect ranking these days. This is also why I said what would need to be ADDED to make it work. Clearly not stating that it’s one for one

The Kings have one of the best prospect pools in the league, other than 1LD what do they need from the Rangers if Zach Jones will be the best piece the Rags are willing to give up for who will likely play on the top line with Byfield one day?

One. You can’t play everyone. Two. You can’t pay everyone. It’s not like u have one center to many you have turcotte, byfield, vilardi, lizzote, danault, kopy. Even if they keep vilardi at 3C what are you proposing to move both byfield (or vilardi) and turcotte to wing? Not even talking abour other center propects u have

LA shouldn't touch this. NY would have to add alot

The only way the Kings would trade Turcotte to NY is for Miller+ or Kaako. Turcotte has way more value and potential than Jones

So your justification of the Kings moving on from their second-best prospect (Turcotte) is because they have too many center prospects? Turcotte has been playing wing with Byfield and Kaliyev in Ontario, this is not a new thing. Turcotte also swapped wing with Zegras as needed at world juniors. He can play in any position.

As to you can't play everyone, I agree, but Turcotte is only on the move if they get an active NHLer who is a 1D or a similar prospect (Zach Jones is not that). The Rangers aren't moving on from any of their top-5 selected picks within three years, why would the Kings?

All this thread was to see how much added on it would take with this swap. I just feel like the kings have to do something at some point. theyve got way to many prospects and not enough spots.

Turcotte is one of those prospects you have to overpay to acquire or he would be part of a package for a star player. There just is no motivation to move him. The Kings have a nice depth problem, but they won’t solve it by shedding those players within the top tier. Also, NY is a bad trade partner for LA because we would want to do the same thing - consolidate assets for star power.

Having a post like this and disregarding trygers very legitimate arguments against is like having a Kings fan post a trade of:

"Kakko for Akil Thomas. What would the Kings need to add?"

With the caveat of:
"By the way, it can't start with Turcotte, Byfield, Clarke or Kaliyev. I'm just asking what it would take to add because the Rangers have too many wingers and something needs to happen."

It's not a trade that is reasonable at all, so it isn't even a consideration.

"Way too many [good] prospects and not enough spots" is a reason to trade Alex Iafallo or Adrian Kempe, not Byfield, Turcotte or Vilardi. Unless we get K'Andre Miller in return. Don't get us wrong -- Jones is an excellent prospect, on a par with Tobias Bjornfot, but we don't need another one of those except at a cheap price.

I'd think Rangers would have to part with Kakko or Lafreniere for Turcotte.

I would think...Miller gets Vilardi...Jones gets Madden or JAD
I'd think you'd need to offer Bowen Byram-esque prospect for Turcotte.

There is no trade that would include Turcotte for Jones as the base. Doesn't matter how much you "add" unless you're adding Miller or Kakko. Quantity for Quality isn't going to work for a team coming out of a rebuild.

Turcotte would require a return of Miller or Kakko. Jones would get you Kupari, Madden, or Thomas.

Unless the ++ includes Miller, Kakko, or Lafreniere, the Kings aren't interested.

Yeah while Jones has been good turcotte has higher potential. IF the kings were to do a close one for one trade in terms of prospects you’d be looking at lundkvist who has the potential to be on the top pairing eventually. Wheeler had turcotte ranked at 30, lundkvist at 34, Jones at 42. Jones has shot up the rankings the past year and a half, but still is a lesser player than the other two.

I would say Lundkvist+henriksson for turcotte would be fair for both teams. Who knows how LA views handedness since lundkvist can play both LD/RD but if they are against opposite side they may want miller (who I wouldn’t give up as I believe he has more potential to make a difference for NYR than turcotte would so no trade).
