Description
In order of where they were selected. This was a much harder list to make because beyond the first 50 or so selections, everyone’s list was so ridiculously different that anyone could be considered draftable. And taking a flier in late rounds is so common based on one or two translatable skills a player has that late round “busts” are really hard to predict.
ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
1Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-Original draft Position:10. With a top 10 pick, you are hoping to draft a player who can be a top contributor for your team.hat is not Tyler Boucher. He’s very raw talent, and while he does have an enticing mix of speed and physicality,I believe that he lacks the offensive upside to be an effective NHL point producer.I think he ends up as a third line forechecker who may chip in the occasional gritty goal (think in the same mold as rookie year Yanni Gourde)
2Logo of the Seattle Kraken-Original draft Position:30. Keeping his character issues out of the picture entirely, Mailloux is not a first round talent. While he does have an interesting set of size and skating. His defensive awareness is abysmal, and he often turns the puck over due to poor decision making. Not to say that those aren’t fixable issues, but with much better talent on the board, I’m still shaking my head about this one.
3Logo of the Anaheim Ducks-Original draft Position:31. This isn’t to say that I dislike Allen, because I actually really do, just not as a first round pick. He’s got good speed for a stay at home defenseman, and uses his stick really well to break up plays. My only issue with taking Allen this early is his lack of offensive upside which, in my opinion, will hinder him from becoming a top four contributor and will keep has a a solid third pai defensive defenseman.
4Logo of the New Jersey Devils-Original draft Position:78. Ertel is a good skater, with solid hands and playmaking skills that could translate to the NHL level. However, his lack of good competition and defensive ability makes me question his ability to play against top prospects. This question could quickly fade away this season if he continues to produce at a high level in tougher leagues.

McCue has looked excellent in development camp. As one of the youngest guys there, he really impressed the Sharks brass.

I wasn’t aware. Just wasn’t a fan of him on the Knights this past year.
