21-22 Pens- Part 1- Fix the Mess- get Younger- more Physical- Upgrade 1B Goalie

Created by: Sidstick87
Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 23, 2021
Published: Aug. 26, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
__________________________________________

Yes, I do have [24] Roster Players & still under Cap........ Would be around {$2.5 - $2.6m} of Cap Space w/ [23] ROSTER PLAYERS
{To Show w/ Geno being out at Start of Season}
__________________________________________________________

***** ~~~ PENS FILL ALL THE MAJOR HOLES ~~~ *****

1)~ Top 6-9 R-H-Winger = {Via Trade} - Ricky 'Rickardo' RAKELL #67

2)~ 'Real' NHL 1B Goalie to push Jarry = {Via Trade} - A. KHUDOBIN #30 (35)

3)~ Top 4 LHD-man that can move ppl in front of net & take off heads at Blue Line (lol) = {Via Trade} - B. McNABB #3

4)~ At least 1 Forward that does NOT get beat up, picked on, & bullied ..... (like all Pens do) = {Via Trade} - MacEWEN #15 (71)

5)~ {2-3} Under 25yr old Players inserted into line-up to provide Energy to a Veteran group = {Via Trade} - I. LUNDESTROM #21 / J. DUGAN #18 (8) / J. MAHURA #76

****** C/LW- I. LUNDESTROM #21 : Thee Perfect McCann replacement - Can play C & LW - Is a former 1st Rdr who has Insane skill but needs a change & could be a complete steal.
***** R/W- J. DUGAN #18 : Pittsburgh's own Jack Dugan is a Beast, had a great 1st yr in AHL, (no clue how he wasn't in NHL last yr). The Dude is just different & could be special.
*** LHD- J. MAHURA #76 : Mahura should have been playing in ANA for past 2yrs, is underrated AF. Have watched since in JRs w/ Red Deer & Regina

6)~ It Really sucks to Trade Rusty bc he's a leader & can do everything on the ice but this old arse team can't afford to re-sign another 30+ yr old player
***** L/W- D. GURIANOV #34 is just scratching the surface, the 6'-3"/ 200+ lb Stud can skate & shoot at an Elite level & could also be a star in the right situation here.

7)~ #3 RHD-man to Replace Ceci & battle w/ Mahura & Friedman = {Via UFA} - J. DEMERS #55

8)~ Veteran Bottom 6 Center for Geno71 being out for 1st 1-2 months of season = {Via UFA} - T. BOZAK #25 (21) {Worth a shot}

________________________________________________

- LTIR LIST = Pens - {23 & under Prospect List}

- Taxi Squad = 1st Call Up List from AHL - {P.O.J. / Poulin / Hallander too}
________________________________________________________________________________

** After I fixed this "Mess of a Roster" : Would be able to keep 85% - 90% of this Team together for the Next 3+ yrs, w/ $40+m of Cap Space in 22' to Re-Sign all [UFA's / RFA's] w/ some small changes each yr.

Would have a much better aged Roster mix of :
~ {4}-Older Vet Star Leaders (32-36), {3}- Vets (33-35) , {7-8}-Vets in their Prime (27-31), {9-10}-Players in Prime ages (23-27), & a mix of {3-4}-young guys (20-23)

*** All 1st (4) Rds of Draft picks for next 3yrs & Didn't use any Top Prospects Via Trade.
- The Pens would be loaded for Bear w/ Options & a Much better Team for a 2-3yr 'All IN' Last Run of the {87-71-58} Core & Be able to Re-Fill Prospect Cupboards w/ all Picks.

Dallas declines. Would rather keep the 24-year old through the upcoming rebuild/retool than trade for a 30-year old that we'd likely trade away at some point during said rebuild/retool. The Stars are about to hit a phase where they have to get younger.

Losing Pavelski & Radulov helps, but with guys like Bourque, Dellandrea, and Stankoven either NHL ready or within a couple years of being NHL ready, it would be much more beneficial for them to keep a younger, cost-controlled Gurianov than for them to trade for a 30-year old Rust that is honestly probably a middle-6 guy in Dallas.

Straight up skill-for-skill, right now Rust may have the edge on Gurianov (and I’m not 100% convinced of that), but look at who he's playing with. He is consistently playing with Crosby and Guentzel, which is a pretty good indication that his stats are inflated a bit. Gurianov's most frequent linemates? Jason Dickinson & Jamie Benn. Get Gurianov linemates like Hintz, Robertson, Bourque, and Seguin (which all should be options at some point this season) and Gurianov's production goes up significantly. Even with the lacking linemates, he still already has a season where he led Dallas in goal scoring. Yeah, I don't see Dallas moving him in the kind of deal you have laid out here.

I prob agree, Ive been trading for Gurianov since all DAL fans were calling him a Bust & love the kid. IMO, he could be a legit superstar in right situation.

All of this is very wishful thinking.
Vegas declines because at worst McNabb is = MP but probably slightly better. However I think MP eventually in the next year or 2 becomes better than McNabb. Dugan is better than Bjorkqvist. If Vegas wants Eichel, Dugan probably has more value to Buffalo than MP too.

Zucker probably doesn’t waive for Ottawa. Nor do I see cheapskate Melnyk taking on Zucker’s salary over White’s.

Anaheim declines because Rakell is way better than White even if he has struggled the last year or 2. Lundstrom = ZAR if not slightly more value. And Mahura definitely has more value than DeSmith. Nor do I see a rebuilding Anaheim being interested in 2 26-27 year old pending UFAs.

Dallas declines because while Rust probably has a bit more value than Gurianov, he doesn’t have more value than both Gurianov, Khudobin, and a 3rd and the rest of the assets in the pens part aren’t worth much and are quantity over quality. So they really don’t make up the gap there.

Lafferty for MacEwan is pretty much a lateral move. I don’t see a 6th persuading Vancouver to get a little older and take on a pending UFA. I also don’t see the pens wanting to give up a pick to get slightly younger but lateral production wise.

Florida might do that considering they have Bob and Knight locked up long term.
