The exact same deal as Svech and he’s 7 years older. 😬

Except Philadelphia didn’t spam number for their player in the first year.

Yeah, I wasn’t paying attention to the date. Just the year.

Yep. There's not a single year where his base salary is larger than his signing bonus. Philly are stuck with this deal for eight seasons, no matter how much age hurts him.

Yeah, this is a tough one to judge because it's smart to extend him now so that he's not tempted to go to free agency next year, and the AAV is a real bargain, but 9 years (including the year left on his current deal) is too long to commit to a guy his age, it has a full no-move for all but the last season, and more than 2/3 of the money is in signing bonuses even in the later years, which means they really are stuck with him for the next 9 seasons. Maybe he'll continue to be an elite player into his late 30s, in which case this will be a great deal for the team, but more likely the last couple of years will be a liability that will cancel out any benefits of the lower AAV. Short term gain for long term pain.

Voted no actually, that term is really off putting. Flyers will pray they can build a contending roster as fast as possible.
