Weird signing, I guess they just want to mess with the Stars because they took Suter.

Vet experience they can flip at the trade deadline if need be. Good contract, low risk!

MIN just couldn't help themselves, could they?

In a vacuum, this is a great no-risk depth move. However, MIN already signed Kulikov and Merrill for the bottom pair, so this is a clear sign that they don't trust Addison yet. That's a shame.

Weird signing?? Have you seen what their defensive depth looks like after Addison (7th) ?

So you'd trust Mermis and Goordev to be in the NHL if an injury occurs ? This is great, they needed another guy who legit is somewhat of an NHLer

Well, there's that. You never know when you need an 8th defenseman, I suppose. (I've always liked Joe Hicketts, but he's a tad risky.)

So my guess rn

Goligoski-Spergeon
Brodin-Dumba
Kulikov-Benn

Merrill be the #7 and if Benn struggles Merrill takes his spot

Not a bad Dcore. Only wildcard is Goligoski but if he struggles Kulikov could fill in

Fun fact: Jordie’s nickname according to the list of hockey nicknames on Wikipedia is “Yukon Cornelius.”

Useless Facts: they’re someone’s trivia winner.

True but Benn can play on his offside better. As all of last season he was playing on his offside and put up some okay numbers. Merrill won the other hand can also play on his offside but this often leads to issues as when he was played on that side his defensive coverage fell along with his numbers.

It's a one-way contract and that's the only part I don't like here. He's a depth defenceman that can play either side, so he will get into games, even if he's a healthy scratch many nights. $900k for a depth defenceman is actually a good deal, which is shocking given the number of iffy deals handed out to defencemen this year. If he does get sent down, then he's an expensive AHLer. That said, since the AHL doesn't have a cap, that's a problem for the owner and no one else.

Yes. Based on the recent market, he should be making 5 mil for 8 years.

A cheap 6/7D, injury insurance signing. Not good, not bad, just something that needed to be done.
