Carolina has a projected $24M in cap space next off-season with no huge contracts to sign besides Necas (who likely sounds around $6M anyways), so what possible reason is there for them to not match? It just makes Bergevin look like even more of an idiot.

In what way is Bergevin looking like an idiot RN??? Pretty sure he’s not the dummass who gave 6.1 millions for KK

Trocheck, Nino, KK, Bear and Deangelo (if they play well). If MTL does not match KK OS, CAR needs to worry for Necas next offseason.

It's a 1 year deal. If it doesn't work, you re-negotiate for more term at a smaller AAV.

Bergevin looks like an idiot because he wouldn't work out a trade cause he overvalued his players. So now he either gets less of a return than he would have in a trade, or an overpaid Kotkaneimi that he's not allowed to trade for a full year. But yes. He looks like a genius somehow to people?

No they don't.

DeAneglo is a 1 year project player. If he doesn't work out, he's gone. He likely never gets big term or money because of his off ice issues so he's expendable.

Trocheck will be a UFA that if Carolina signs Kotkaneimi will walk. Then Carolina is left with Aho, Kotkaneimi, and Staal down the middle so it's likely in their plans to let him walk.

Niederreiter is replaceable with any of their top prospects. Any one of Suzuki, Jarvis, Bokk, Drury, etc can take his spot and they're all on ELC's so it saves cap space.

And Bear likely doesn't cost anymore than $4M AAV which isn't too expensive.

That leaves $20M left to sign Necas. Carolina has nothing to fear in an offersheet to Necas unless a team offers him $10M+ AAV and in that case they'd receive 4 1st round picks. They're fine actually.

Trocheck was one of the best forward of that group. It would be silly to let him walk. What if Deangelo has a huge season?
Agree with the Nino situation.

If CAR let walk Trocheck and Nino, I don’t think KK OS was worth it.

20M - at least 6M for KK next season (will take the offersheet before signing a contract with a smaller AAV)

Trocheck + Nino + 1st + 3rd for KK
That’s a big L

Except, KK has no obligations to sign a cheaper deal. He can just wait out for the Qualifying offer or walk.

they just set his price for his next contact
They sent us a 1st and a 3rd which is great!
They'll see how bad he is and he'll become a ufa next year.
