Initial Creation Date: Aug. 29, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Eichel trade is a long shot but at the same time makes sense for the Blues if the they are trying to win now. Makes their top-6 one of the best in the league that could rival the likes of a Colorado. Makes Thomas expendable since their two line centers would be ROR/Eichel for the foreseeable future. Buffalo would be getting a player that is a future top-6 center in Thomas, two 1st-round picks, a 2nd round pick (from third team) and another pretty good prospect (also third team) that was probably a former 1st/2nd rounder while only retaining salary for two years which likely fits within the structure of their rebuild.

Karl Alzner might not be the perfect fit for the Blues, but with reports of them going after a veteran left-handed defenseman and Chara only showing interest in the East coast, might be the next best option of the UFAs remaining. Checks a lot of the boxes as far as what the Blues lacked from their blueline last season (defensive-defenseman who brings physicality with hits, blocked shots).

Additional Details:
Would involve a third team getting Tarasenko, likely with a pretty decent pick (2nd/3rd) and a good-not-great prospect going back to Buffalo which is not illustrated here. The Sabres would also eat some of Vladimir's salary (only for two more years) to get a maximum return of futures in the deal.

Firm no to Eichel, and Alzner isn't worth a nickel, let alone making him a top 4 D. Eww.

That is a very interesting trade.
First, what do you think is the value of Tarasenko with 7 goals and 24 pts over the past two seasons.
Second, let me remind you the Sabre team that had a top 6 of Kane, Eichel, O'Reilly, Reinhart, Okposo (his last good season 15 goals 44 pts). Pomenville (his last season with 16 goals 34 pts) finished dead last..
What makes one think that a team with O'Reilly, Eichel, Perron, Schenn, and Kyrou will do better?
