I doubt this is done, but if something like this is done you push Brodie to the left side

NYI would ask for 3 firsts and Rielly for Pulock

How is Pulock better? Best season was 3 yrs ago when he racked up 37 pts. Less than half a point a game. Same season he had his bets +/- year of + 21, the following year... +8 last year +15
Rielly has been .6 PPG or better for the past 4 years and has been a plus player for the past 3 - +24, +6, +11
How is Pulock "better"?
Both have the same cap hit, and both are expiring contracts at the end of this year. NYI needs help on the left side but has depth on the right. The Leafs have depth on the left and need help on the right.
Win-Win situation for both teams. 3 firsts and Rielly for Pulock? Good lord... SMH

As for moving Brodie to the left side... Why exactly? He may be a left shot, but he has played RD basically his entire career. And if he DID get moved to LD... who goes to the right? Dermott? please he is better off on LD where he is most comfortable, leave Brodie and his YEARS of experience "playing the wrong side" just where he is.

Agreed Ritchie should be on the 3rd line but for some unknown reason this is where it looks like he is going to be slotted in. Who's a better LW1 option than Ritchie with the current roster?

If you don't think Pulock is better than Rielly, THEN WHY DO YOU PROPOSE IT

Rielly can’t defend, he has one of the worst impacts in the league. Pulock has a top 15 defensive impact among all Dmen over the last 3 years.

Rielly is slightly better than Pulock offensively - points don’t tell the whole story, Rielly plays with much better finishers. Overall Pulock has been the better defenseman over the past two seasons.

Agree with everything you said expect for Rielly being slightly better offensively. He is much better, let's not beat around the bush with that.

Not sure if you are trolling because he literally said why he proposed it in his quote that you used. grin

This is not being a smart alek but besides Matthews who do we have that are better then the top 4-6 Forwards of the Islanders that last 3 years? Marner is a setup guy, Nylander hasn't done much playing on the perimeter with skill, Tavares has great hand-eye for tipping but is no Ovechkin. Just genuinely curious. Maybe I am simply a disillusioned Leafs fan.

Please provide me some articles, screenshots or something. I don't believe that at all, but I will be happily proven wrong. From the numbers I have seen, he has been good, but nowhere near top 20. Rielly is in the 98th percentile in even strength offensive impact at 5v5 according to JFresh's player cards. His point total's in the last 3 years, also back that up. Pulock isa great defenseman, but not close to Rielly offensively.

The most important offensive metric is GF/60 (increasing the rate your team scores goals) . Rielly is a better offensive play driver, but Pulock is just as good in overall offensive impact because of his elite shot

Thanks for sharing this! But doesn't it worry you that his actual GF/60 is so high compared to his xGF/60? Doesn't that mean that they have extreme shooting luck with him on the ice?

No because he’s been doing this for most of his career. So it’s not luck. If it was a 1 year thing I’d be concerned. From 2017-20 Pulocks offensive impact ranked 12th among all defenseman (per evolving hockey).

Rielly>Pulock offensively
Pulock> Rielly Defensively
NYI needs a 1st pair LD
TOR Needs a 1st pair RD
Cap hits and contract term is the same for both players.
Need for Need.
Makes sense for both teams to do.
Can't argue that.

NYI has no need for a 1st pair LHD, they have pelech. they need a 2LHD, and they don't have a clear successor to pulock as the 1RD at this time. doesn't make sense for the islanders at all.
