Definitely hasn't done enough to justify this cap hit yet. Needs to take a big next step for this to be good value.

Edit: Never mind, apparently CapFriendly had the total value as the AAV.

Based on the hype over this kid it's a steal.

Based on performance it's an atrocity.

Based on reality, it's the wrong AAV.

I voted yes to this. It's going to be a complete steal come the end of next season for the Predators. So much upside to this player.

agreed, he had a good season last year but didn't show up in the playoffs

Nashville's going for a rather interesting retool here. I like a lot of their recent draft picks, and they seem to be going for a mix of vets and youth as a sort of transition. If Askarov pans out as a star goaltender, it wouldn't shock me to see Nashville back as a postseason contender relatively shortly. I also like their swing on Cody Glass.

I was impressed by Tolvanen this year. Having him signed for 3 years x $1.45M and still a RFA at the end of it is great for the Predators.

2 years with that low cap hit would have been good for the player. It’s almost like he doesn’t trust in himself.
