I don't think Boston can afford Hertl now. Not even talking about this year, cause San Jose could easily retain on him, but next year they need to Resign Bergeron and McAvoy plus fill out the rest of the roster with less than 21M. But I agree F|_|CK Kane.

Hertl is not worth that much even w/ "re-upping" to the new club...

Idk, Boston has done a great job of building a great culture. Bergeron probably takes something like 6, Hertl takes 7, and McAvoy around 8 to 9.

I mean, he is, but you do you. You get someone to replace Bergeron in a year or 2 as 1C for just 2 firsts and a B+ prospect.

3 firsts for Thomas Hertl is a joke.
Or supreme-Bias...

He's a 2C-max so he's not replacing Bergy...I look elsewhere - gotta do me, and I do it well.

That's still over their 21M in cap space with a few players to sign still. I just don't think it's a fit there unless Bergeron takes like 4M.

Buddy, I think you're the bigger homer here.

Two posts from you and you don't discuss anything but go for my character...but I digress.

T Hertl is a rental.
TH will likely cost in his next deal US$7 to $8MIL (given this crazy off-season) and he'll be a 2C until Bergy retires (that's too much money for second fiddle)
When all the while, "Charlie Mack" is going to get the Makar-type deal which is easily US$9 to 10MIL...
PASS.........to you Homer J

I'm a Hertl fan, but that's a lot. That said there is a extension in place in this scenario and Bruins would likely be picking late so this may not be far off.
Hertl and Pasta would be fun to watch when Bergeron is done.

In BOS he's 2C for the next 2/3yrs...then he'll be 30, making US$8MIL and finally getting a 1C shot - yikes.
Thus he's not worth the haul going to SJ (all of which are zero-NHL $$$ out the door for BOS) in a flat-Cap...w/ MacAv about to get PAID!
I know, math is hard...

ok i see the fit is wrong but that doesn’t mean he’s a 2C he would be a 1C playing 2C because of a stacked roster

I know SJS fans really like Hertl - and they obviously watch him more than i do but in comparison to recent trades (Stone --> VGK, Duchene --> CLB, O'Reilly --> STL) its probably an overpay. The biggest problem with this trade though, is that the B's do not have the space to bring him in. Salary would have to be going back the other way. In terms of extension - B's have around 20 million in space McAvoy and Bergeron up, also Pastrnak will be up the year after. They could make an extension work but it would be a touch tricky.

Boston declines. Overpay and they have zero cap space.

1st/Debrusk/mid level prospect. Boston would consider, still have to find some cap space though.
