Team I would Love to See Best lines opening night

Description
Before you say the anything about the trade Dvorak for a rental in Reilly. Reilly fits the young plan there going for and can be a great leader . They will resign him before his contract is up. Now let’s get to the good stuff…
Basically I would like to see Robertson get called up as the second line left winger and have Marner on the opposite wing. I think Marner would be able to set Roberson up with a calder type caliber year with all passes he will be able to tee up for him. If all else fails you got a security buffer with Dvorak and you can swap him with Robertson to play with Marner as well as they played together in the OHL so there’s chemistry there . Nylander and Marner and kerfoot all have wicked chemistry . I would love to see that as the top line . I set up the D pairing with a safe veteran player with a young rookie so our d prospects can get the reps and experience they need to take there game to the next level. They will also cover some mistakes they make so it balances all the lines . Also each d pairing has a guy that can shoot from the blue line

Overpay for Dvorak and Underpay for Ekholm

I’m so add der-argen to the ekholm deal and remove him from the Dvorak deal. That should even it out . Bad judgment on me

That's still an overpay!!!

Reilly for Dvorak and a pick is much closer.

If it's a sign and trade, then the tag goes up.

You use those futures from the Yotes to facilitate the Ekholm deal.....

Even then, I don't like it. Ekholm is a rental too.

If you are gonna move futures like that, getting a LD with some term is 100% necessary.

Otherwise just move Reilly for Ekholm in hopes Ekholm takes less money on an extension.

That's a bold strategy giving up your best defenseman, a good prospect, and a 1st round pick for a 3rd line Center.

I don't disagree, but I also don't see what's in this for the Yotes? One year of Rielly just makes zero sense to me for a team that's likely going to be in the basement of their division. Could they flip him? Sure! But that seems like a lot of extra work, and a very dangerous move for them, especially if he gets injured.

And yes, I read the OP's explanation that "Rielly gets extended", but why? Until they get themselves firmly situated somewhere, why would he extend? Players sign extensions/long contracts so that they have stability in their lives-Going to Arizona isn't that...

There will be a bidding war for Ekholm if NSH looks to move him, but I think you're on the right track. Maybe a prospect added in or a 3rd?

I don't see why Rielly to AZ makes sense. AZ is a team going through a rebuild. I can't see AZ even looking for big names in free agency after this season is over.

How does this work? 20 man roster, no cap and by miracle five guys on the LTIR. One year of Reilly, for one year year of Eckblom, cancel each other.
Then it's 2 first rounders, Dermot and SAM for 4.4m Dvorak. Leafs would have been much better just to sign a 4.4m UFA.

Christian Dvorak is well on his way to being the leagues most overrated player.

The worst part of this whole thing is you have him on the 4th line.
