Description
Not sure any of these trades are realistic but with the future of the cap maybe this works. It assumes Guerin is tired of Kaprizov's agent, Marner would be a awesome get in return and Holl is a Minnesota kid who may be willing to re-sign cheap for a couple years to play in his home state. Toronto is in win now mode so a half priced Zuccarello is appealing. I believe Zuccarello would waive to continue to play with his buddy Kaprizov and to play on a championship caliber team.

The Sabres are rumored to want the equivalent of 4 firsts for Eichel and don't want to take money back. My understanding is it's not about the money but more about getting players they can lock up for a bit. I never like trading Ek but it's Eichel so maybe I need to get over it and since Ek signed for 8 years he would be stuck in Buffalo, it's a bit of a dirty move but perhaps Guerin mentioned the possibility. Greenway is a NY kid so I could see him being willing to re-sign in Buffalo.

Dumba and Rask are pretty much a cap move, but Coyotes really need some RD, not that they want to win but I think they would like some kind of credibility. Hayton needs a change of scenery and maybe the Wild can help him develop. Either way Wild need cap space and will probably need to take some low cost gambles the next 4 years, so I see a fit.

This plan would give the Wild a few long term cornerstones while they filter through young guys the next couple years until the Suter, Parise contracts no longer hurt. I don't like trading Kaprizov or Ek they are my favorite players and I really don't think its likely the Wild would trade either player but thought I see what it might look like.

Way to many things that won't happen. Kaprizov has to be signed, Zuccarello has to waive NMC, not enough for Eichel or Hayton, Wild won't trade Ek for an injured Eichel, etc. Other than that I like the ideas

Why would wild trade Joel Eriksson Ek for eichel. Come on. Like especially after signing him to 8 years deal.

I know It would be totally doing Ek dirty. I love Ek, he and Kaprizov are my two favorite players on the Wild. It's more about trying something else that hasn't been considered. I really want Eichel on this team but I can't find a way that makes sense. So it probably isn't going to happen. Maybe Wild get lucky and Rossi comes in ready for the NHL like Kirill was, not likely as he doesn't have the years in the KHL that KK had to prepare, but if he did I'd never think about Eichel again.

Ek has more value presently than eichel does.

As much as I love Ek, I can't believe he would return more in a trade. Is he more tradable? Yes. Cheaper contract and more term, but Eichel is the more valued asset imo. Still I don't believe you fill a hole by making a hole so this trade is a no go for me.
This was just a exercise in trying some different trades and see what that might look like, I really don't think I've improved the Wild on this one.
