Kreider doesn't waive for SJ. (why should he leave NYR?) It will up to the NHL to terminate Kane's contract not the Sharks.

If SJ is trading away Hertl, that means the rebuild has started, why would SJ want Kreider over futures?

I feel like out of all the teams in the league, the Sharks are the one team that would take him as part of a bigger deal. Assuming they terminate Evander Kane’s contract, which is probably gonna happen, they’d probably want a left winger to replace him in his role and I think Kreider could be that guy for them. Plus if it means getting a guy like Zac Jones, then I’m sure the Sharks would consider it. After all this is Doug Wilson we’re talking about. He’d probably take it considering he still believes they’re a contending team.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Hertl to NYR requires a baseline of a 1st and one of Chytil, Schneider, or Lundkvist. And we don't want Kreider back.

i feel like if kreider is going the other way, the prospect involved has to be better than zac jones. i know the rumor is that guys like schneider are untouchable even for eichel, but i do think if you’re shedding the kreider contract it’s got to be someone like him.
