a fair point. but if the leafs let go of rielly and maybe deal someone like kerfoot next offseason, that's 8.5M in space for
1) sandin new contract (likely a bridge around 2-3M)
2) campbell raise (4M w term)
3) hertl's raise: ~7M, so a 4M raise.

together that's 10.5M. we'd have to clear out an extra million (considering the cap goes up by 1M). it's feasible

we could probably acquire a top 6 forward this season for a lesser price even if they arent as good

I bet San Jose gets a better offer than Liljegren and a first for Hertl. Don't really see this trade happening but who knows.

Now this is more like it. Lillibust, 2 AHL players and super low 1st with Retention. This is what I expect from the Leafs. Not happening.

Last time Leafs tried to do it with a skeleton crew a few years back, they were a virtual M*A*S*H unit with injuries and had no chance.

The leafs need a LW forward not a RW. Their top 2 RW spots are taken and to put Nylander on his off wing and not having Marner on the topline doesn't make sense. imo
