2nd Line Center

Created by: JackAce91
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 1, 2021
Published: Sep. 1, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Dvorak would be the perfect second-line option for Boston. His best year came with Hall on his line, so bringing those two together again should be dangerous.

I admit that I'm not a Boston fan and aren't too familiar with their players. From what I have seen, DeBrusk would be the first to go in order to make a bit of cap space, so that is why I made that trade. If it were me though, I'd find a way to make it work with him.
Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Dvorak, Christian
Additional Details:
Boston shouldn't need either of these two picks if they stay good. But I think both would have to be thrown in. Gotta outbid Montreal if they are going for Dvorak

Don't think you can win many games with only 11 forwards playing

I like the RD - but that LD is the weak spot, and
In goal, is un-tested/weak too (certainly come playoffs).

Better leave some reserve-$$$ for a Tuukka-return in Jan/Feb of 2022.

I agree with the defense. However, I definitely don't agree with you goaltending take. Linus Ullmark had a Vezina contending season... in Buffalo. He was out injured quite a bit (which could potentially be an issue), but in the 20 games he played, he won 9 games, dragged Buffalo to overtime losses 3 times and posted a .917% Save Percentage and 2.63 GAA. On a team like Boston, he could win the Vezina next year if he remains consistent.

Here’s the issue with dvorak as a number 2 center….he isn’t a number two center. Offensively, he’s a rounding error away from coyle. Coyle had a pretty brutal year last season, but he had major off season knee surgery, so i would assume that was a factor. The year before their stat lines were almost identical. Defensively he’s better, plays more physical etc. at very very most, it’s a tiny upgrade, with a significant cap hit tied to it. Is that tiny maybe upgrade worth a first, a 2nd, and a 4.5 million cap hit, as well as having Chris freaking Wagner playing the third line? I would say that’s the hardest no.

Ride it out. See what happens. If it doesn’t work, get that number 2 center, but make it an actual number 2 center, and not some 3C hiding as a 2C on a crap team.

Also would leave some space to sign rask (doubt Moore spends much if any time on LTIR).

On paper - I agree, Ullmark could be the answer - on paper.
However, PLAYOFFS are a different animal.
Just ask Tuukka - he's won squat having one of the best team-D's in the modern game in front of him, and YTD he's NO TIM THOMAS!
Neither is Linus...

Just a heads up, a .917 sv% and a 2.63 gaa isnt anywhere near vezina contention. Its solid nhl goalie numbers.

Very Solid - except for the "917 & 2.63" part

If those dreadful #'s ^ ^ ^ get anywhere near the 16-playoff wins for a new Stanley then surely one of the D-Men in front of him is going to get the the CONN & the Rolex gifted from the G-Man too...

TT in 2011 Playoffs & SCF w/ BOS = .940 & 1.98
And he left zero gas in the tank and stood on his meaty Michi-gander head. Zero!!
Tank -get it!

This season, he wasn't a 2C. I agree with you on that. But look at last season with Hall on the line. He was absolutely performing like a 2C then because they compliment each other very well. Also, Bruins don't need much money to sign Rask. He has already said he isn't chasing a paycheck anymore. His only goal is to finish with Boston.

Also not sure why you're so high on Chris Wagner. He isn't that good. He's been hovering around the replacement level line for three seasons now.

You very much misunderstood what i was saying about Wagner. I don’t think he belongs in the NHL. High on him? I’m about as low on him as it gets.

Dvorak isn’t much of an upgrade, and would be a really really really bad player for the bruins to go after. He’s not a 2C, regardless of who he’s playing with.
