Looking at what Shesterkin got, this is an awesome deal for the Isles. Sorokin can set himself up for a big contract once this one is done as well.

But overall, for goalie that has only played approximately 20 games in the regular season and 7 playoff... this is not good either.

They got a good amount of term on this contract. W for the Islanders.

I feel like this could have been at a lesser cap hit considering they still have Varlamov as the primary starter and he gets into UFA after. It looks good on paper, but to be paying your back up 4 per year isn't good.

That being said I feel like he's probably better than Varlamov now and that he plays above this cap hit going into the deal.
