WIsh that Beau chose a longer deal, but with our cap space issues, I think that this was a fair deal.

Well, at least this contract buys out one UFA year instead of zero. In terms of cap hit, though, there's nothing to complain about.

He would have made a way better target for a 1 year/ 6M OS...

Like if you agree.

Old school Lou, handing out contracts without worrying about Cap Hit %, or Corsi, or analytics, or signing/contract bonus.

Wish the new school GM's would take notes.

It's called unrestricted free agency leverage.

I wish there was a neutral button.

This would be an excellent deal if RFA at the end or if bought a few Ufa years. To walk right to Ufa it is okay

Players who signed bridge contracts normally do so they can reach UFA status faster.

being a potential 50-point scorer at age 24 isn't leverage?

Everybody is a potential 50 point scorer. Few actually are. The right way to see it is that he has 155 points in 333 games.

Best recent comparable is Sam Bennett (155P in 412G) at 4x4.4M, but he plays center.

Labanc (177P in 339G) got 4x4.75M, but that was after his stupid 700k contract, so he got a delayed bonus...

No problem here. Beau is in the market. In fact, it's so close to those comparables, it almost as if they looked at them before making the deal 😉

Well you should look at his full career but also more heavily at more recent years.

I tend to try to look at a balance of last year and last three years

Sorry but you do not.

You just proved up here your opinion was based on his PPG of his 47 last games, not even a full season. ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ See? Wrong sample😉

I proved my sample based on career points was way better, with numbers supporting it.

Like dude, really, that's how agents do their maths. (yes, yes, advanced stats too🙄, but we dont talk about those 🙏).

You may adopt how it is done IRL, or do your own evaluations looking for whatever stats. But dont be surprised they dont match with real deals.

And the GM that uses every available resource has just seen his team beat Lamoriello's team twice and now is back to back champion.

The GM who cheats the cap each of the last 2 seasons ?

Any team can win the Cup with a $100 million salary playoff team.
