Interesting...not really a necessary signing in my opinion.

Its just weird, what is their plan, waiving guys, tryign to trade them, bc they have too many fwds on 1 way deals and are end up losing good guys , like Morgan Geekie for nothing bc of signings like this.
They are making more work for themslves

My take on this is that it doesn't have to do with Sheahan who can be a 4C on many teams.

Seattle have plenty of those low/fringe line-up players already, but they can’t help at center during Gourde injury because wings sucks so much (JVR & Tarasenko anyone?).

I voted NO because if you still need to sign a UFA 4th line center after an expansion draft, wtf have you been doing with your picks?

yup and right now...after Gourde goes on IR. They have a full 23 man roster and the young guys they picked in Expansion, Fluery, Geekie, True, and Lind all will be on waivers bc they are singing guys like Sheahan and Mojo. So what is their plan bc its a bunch of WTF at the moment.

and you dont sign guys who are making NHL money 1 way to waive to go to the AHL. They have no intentions of signing him to put him in the AHL...so why did they pick guys like Geekie etc

yup exactly my thoughts. Unless they have some guys who might not be ready for camp that we arent aware of, but right now their late moves of singing bottom 6 and bottom pairing dmen are just puzzling.

Your last sentence is the best, smartest thing that's going to be said on CapFriendly today. And it's only 1:45 p.m.!

Aww cheers mate.

I realise I'm a little on edge this week. After the Seattle non happening, I can't wait for KK offer sheet to be over.

My guess is they're trying to make competition. Unlike most teams with 5+ years of drafts and free agent prospects signings they don't have those 20+ guys to come to training camp to push the vets and earn a couple spots.

So if Sheehan doesn't work out they waive him just like Colorado would send down whoever one of their 2nd tier prospects would.

signing a bunch of sub replacement UFAs at the risk of waiving interesting young players is just dumb

Great, they really needed at least another forward for the main roster. Not the best, but I'd rather ahve him than like Lind or Henman scratched...

Then waive all the sub replacement level players at the end. They still need to fill camp and likely fill an AHL team...

The teams with the least players under contract besides the kraken are two teams ties with 39. After this signing the Kraken have 33. They need literal warm bodies to play their inter scrimmage games and other stuff at training camp.

If they keep some scrub veteran over an interesting young player come opening night I'll agree with you.

But for now this is them just filling the organization with warm bodies.
