But in the case here, Ottawa is not interested as Connor Brown is a key player who never gets injured (fingers crossed). Don't think he ever missed a game in the NHL
He's the most important forward on the PK (although Pinto and Formenton will give him a run for his money as soon as this year), he's the most important forward defensively overall and he has been contributing really well offensively relatively to deployment (massive dZS%, low PP TOI/GP) to an average of 24 goals and 50 pts per 82 games. He's also the coach's dream, hard to see DJ Smith "live without him"
Tarasenko only played 34 games the last 2 seasons and command a much higher salary. He is owed 15 M$ for the next 2 years (vs 8.0 for Brown)
EDIT : Wanted to add on Brown because I see he is still really underrated. Only 59 forwards have more even strength points in the last 2 seasons combined... Let that sink in
