Why buyout Kane, I would think you can terminate the contract.

    I'm torn.

Part of me would be ecstatic to have Burns at $4M, but the other part is screaming that he's 36 now and the contract runs until he's 40.

It's a good risk. Burns is physically an absolute beast and will be fine until 40. His fitness level is still super high up.

Hopefully. Let's see what happens but SJ needs it badly.
I mean, I still would hope he's found innocent and plays with SJ, but if the report which says Hertl's one of the guys unhappy with Kane on the team is true, theeya Kane!

Given the history within the NHL & NHLPA of terminating contracts for material breach, I'd say that unless it's actually discovered that he was betting on NHL games and the league bans him, the Sharks are extremely unlikely to be able to get out from under him without a buyout.

He gets charged with a crime than it's easy to cancel him.

Go read up on the Mike Richards situation if you think that's true.

nah., the leafs dont need a guy who is twice as expensive but 1/10th as good defensively signed until he's 40+ at the cost of Holl alone let alone adding anything, big fat pass
