That’s ok, they aren’t getting more than this until the cap rises with zero retention, and who know if he even suits up for sabres again to show his form?

From the reports he’s getting his surgery. He will play at max 10-15 games, than get traded. I still think he will be traded before training camp stars though. This offer isn’t great because Tracey has been really bad, but the Ducks 2023 1st would be really nice to have.

I wonder whether the media has really misread the situation. When Eichel posted that disgruntled emoji on Twitter, everyone assumed it was because he is mad he hasn't been traded yet. But what if he is just disgruntled at all the unwanted media attention and trade rumors? Never once has he said he wanted a trade but conversely never once in his career did he say he liked it in Buffalo. Then there is the whole thing about him firing his agents and getting a new one. Perhaps he was displeased that his former agents were going public with displeasure over the Sabres franchise? They were basically slamming the whole organization (not necessarily a bad thing) but maybe Eichel didn't like what they said. Interesting how the agents said "they" where expecting a trade by now, not that their client was. Eichel is a big fan of smoke and mirrors, you never really know what he is thinking because he doesn't say it. I think its possible that if the media is misrepresenting his position that he would not bother to go on the record to correct it.

I know in reality there is a 98% chance that Eichel wants out and is just itching to leave and I do not blame him. However, there is a small chance that he is okay with staying in Buffalo so long as he is allowed to rehab his neck in the right way

Food for thought anyhow

I think both parties said they want to move on, but there's no question the media has made it look worse than it actually is

Arizona smartly took care of that, I’d believe this could be resolved properly if the owner wasn’t trying to just deal west but let’s look at that with zero retention:

Ducks:not moving zegras or drysdale
Yotes:no
FlamesSticking Out Tongueossible but I think there needs to be retention
Hawks:no
Avs:no
Stars:doubtful
Oilers:no
Kings:doubtful
Wild:doubtful
Preds:not sure what they’re doing but could work
Sharks:no
Blues:unlikely
Canucks:no
Knights:would’ve happened already
Jets:no

Wild and vegas both are teams waiting till he his healthy. Stl is plausible and they were talking to Buffalo, Winnipeg could be added to the list when PLD disappoints them again, CGY has bad contracts they could trade. If Kings bail on Kopitar or want to move Byfield to wing, i do think it is less likely

I cannot see how wild can do it with the buyouts and kaprizov/fiala, knights seem to not want to move krebs, blues maybe but I don’t know if they have the assets, eichel too pricey for jets, what flames contracts(that they would want to move)?

Minnesota: Dumba (not to Buffalo, to a 3rd party)
Zuccarello

Calgary: Well see were Gaudreau is by December, same with Monahan and Tanev
Backlund

Not one of the flames will waive for sabres. Three ways are possible but are very difficult to come by

Which is possible but three way deals are very rare in nhl. I’m not saying sabres fans are wrong in his value, this just all happened at pretty much the worst time and worst circumstances. Literally everything is working against them.
