Why not just go the offer sheet route? Of course, you would have to dump cap first, but why not? Offer sheets are fun.

No actual reason for Ottawa to even consider

Not close for OTT to even consider, he's probably as untouchable as Tkachuk.

I don’t think any of Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Stutzle , Pinto, Chabot, JBD (unless we get a RHD back like Boqvist for Jones), Sanderson, Brannstrom (unless we get a good young forward back) and Gustavsson. None of the guys I named are probably going anywhere

Ottawa would match unless they offered 7+ mill.

I guess I didn’t understand how valuable Batherson was to sens fans.

We’ve been saying it 😂😂. He was on pace for 50pts in his first full year

TBH that’s around what Strome is able to do in a proper role but details grimace

I feel like what’s happening to Strome is the same as Brannstrom. Brannstrom was on pace for 35pts in 82 games , isn’t horrible defensively, 1 bad play and he benched him. I just don’t think DJ likes him but he’s a great player

I agree with that, the Sens could actually have something special in 3-4 years, as long as Eugene doesn't cheap out again and sell off.

Offer sheet wouldn't work with Ottawa because of their cap space. It wouldn't even affect future contracts since they have Zaitsev, Murray, and White that are keeping the team above the cap floor, and can be moved when they don't need that anymore. The cost of moving them is irrelevant since only one would be needed to be moved, and the others will come off the books before the next round of ELC's expire, Sanderson, Kleven, Boucher.

His biggest value is he's a right hand shot, and Ottawa is short on them, another reason Boucher was so attractive at 10th overall.

He's an East coast boy and trains with the likes of McKinnon and Crosby in the summer (not sure if he's on the McKinnon diet). He's at BioSteel right now with McDavid and company. By the sounds of it, he's doing all the right things to succeed in the league and the chemistry he had with Chucky and Norris this past season can't be overlooked.

On a Hawks note, I do like the hiring today.

I have been following Drake since he played in the Q. Didn't realize what the Sens had right away but he broke out right away in his D+1 year. His game has been growing steadily since. Frankly, you just had to watch him in the AHL to know what you had. He put 116 pts in 103 games (1.13 PPG = 92 pts per 82 games) at 20-21 years old on a team that had very poor veteran talent. He was the best player on Belleville right away, until he left.

Others have broached the subject, so the sarcasm wasn’t obvious to me, even with the ending, but it’s all good. It never hurts to talk through the option.
