Crazy enough, if we did that we could properly address and pay for two centers of quality and sign all our young guys. Would leave the wings as Kreider, Laf, Kakko and Kravtsov, so we’d need some serious progress and development in order to even do this. But if we ended up keeping Mika and signing a guy like Hertl or Trochek, we could solidify down the middle with Chytil and Goodrow down the middle as well. Opens up the right side for Gauthier on the third line and maybe Barron or Othmann. Fourth line of Blais, Rooney and Reaves. Could be a decent lineup. All comes down to how our young guys progress. If they bust we’re literally screwed, if not we could be in good shape moving forward. However, I do love the Breadman and would be hard pressed to move our best player.

I think since the Jets lost Appleton they really needed another Apple in the lineup and we're willing to pay...dearly for it. THis is just a shot in the dark here, could be wrong. I mean, they're crisp, juicy and healthy so can't go wrong.

Lol. The Jets organization lost one apple (Appleton) and discarded this other apple (Appleby) two years ago. Plot twist: maybe they are anti-Apple. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I wouldn't trade Brown for Palmieri 1 for 1. Brown has two more years at $3.6. Fantastic value and perfect term considering all the prospects OTT has coming up.
If OTT can extend him for the right term and money, great; if not they get a very solid return for him at the 22-23 deadline and create room for one of Boucher, Jarventie, Greig, Sokolov...
Palmieri also turns 31 this season and his deal takes him to 34. FULL NTC the first 2 years, MNTC the last 2. He's still a solid player but 31-34 are undeniably declining years.

I take Connor Brown over Kyle Palmieri without even thinking one second

Palmieri is 3 years older, makes 1.4 AAV more

Last 2 seasons :

Connor Brown : 127 GP, 37 Goals, 41 Assists, 78 Points
Kyle Palmieri : 116 GP, 35 Goals, 31 Assists, 66 Points

Don't think we need to enter into PK and defensive stats (by the way, Brown started receiving Selke votes last season and I think it will happen again)

It's crazy how much underrated Connor Brown still is.
