He’ll become one of Melnyk’s favourites, saved him a lot of that precious money. Great deal.

In full stride I think he will be a 60 point player so this is a great contract.

Another guy I can’t wait to potentially hit UFA.

But really this is a fantastic deal for a guy who should grow into a talented top 6 mainstay (which is basically already is). Don’t see this becoming another Colin White, Batherson is a key piece to the Sens future.

Just trade for Eichel now😉

I had Batherson signed between 4.7 and 4.8 million per year.

And that he would get anywhere between 3 years (Kevin Labanc) or 6 years (Colin White).

200K more than what he's worth is not the end of the world.

This is a good signing.

I thought he'd be 5-5.25mil, so him coming in below 5mil is excellent.

With the North division last year I had the privilege of watching this kid a lot. I remember the first game saying who the heck is this? Although I am not a senators fan, from what I have seen I think this is a great contract for him and for them. Watch out for this kid.

- No Drake, you can't have $30 million contract. That is too much.
- How about $29.85M?
- Sure, take it.

He won’t be worth it for Y1 and maybe Y2 but by the end, the value in his prime will more than offset that.

25G pace last season. Well worth $5M now. Gonna be worth $6M in a year or two.

He’s produced at every level.. qmjhl, wjc, ahl and this year he had a 50 point pace in the nhl. Even if he tops out at a 50-60 point player the deals well worth it considering everything else he brings.

Soooo bridge contracts dont exist anymore?

I mean, the guy doesn't have 100 games or a full season played yet!

Farabee, Batherson... This KK 6M offer sheet looks more reasonable every day...

I would say he's worth the money even in year 1. Ottawa's top-2 fwd last season

Has to be a win for both. Drake cashes in and given his potential he could be out performing his contract as soon as this year... Which is crazy to say.
Love the Sens direction

In a few years, this AAV might be considered a steal.

its initially good for Batherson but might work out for Sens over the 6... if he increases his scoring (IF).

I find it funny that their highest paid forward doesn't make over 5M... for now..

Wow, I thought he was getting a bridge contract.

Definitely overpaying him for the first couple years. Hopefully it turns into a good contract for the later years when the Sens are true contenders.

What a smart move by OTT..... Absolutely love this kid.
Even if he has a sophomore slump season next yr, this contract is still great.... Good Job OTT

Let's call it a 2 yr deal for $6 million ($3 avg), than Melnyuk forces a trade of him, so another team will pay the other $24 million ($6 avg) for the last 4 yr's.
